an ohm meter is going to tell you if two points are connected electrically and how much resistance is between two points.

the soldering on those wires looks very bad though, i would get someone who is a little more experienced to try the soldering. no parts of the outer shield can be touching the inner core at all, not even one single strand.

sadly there is no one who solders professionally near my area. Just tell me if the ground wire touches the bottom panel/side panels/both panels.

I am talking about the JNR1010

the outer shield goes to ground, so if the pads you soldered to are ground pads then it should work that way. an ohm meter will tell you if they are ground pads or not. it is very hard to tell from the lighting in the pictures whether or not they are soldered correctly. to me it looks like the inner core shielding is stripped off too far back and is touching the outer core wires but it could be clear and im not seeing it.

I re-did the soldering. Its not very pretty cause I am short on wires and I cant find new ones near my area.

I was EXTRA careful so that the inner core doesnot contact with the ground wire.

I soldered the ground wire to the back plate and one of the side plates.

those look better from what i can see. make sure you take some rubbing alcohol and an old toothbrush and clean up all the flux sitting on the area

With all of that terrible soldering you could have easily ruined the copper tracks, hence no signal to the antenna.

I have e3000 router that I plan to install an external antenna. I know for a fact that this router
can transmit and receive multiband freq. (2.4ghz and 5ghz).

Can someone recommend me a good Omni antenna(indoor) suitable for transmitting and receiving 2.4 GHz & 5GHz.

Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I got some 12 dBi antennas (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HY3MAZY) and they really improve the range, they're monstrous.

Those soldering jobs dang what iron you using? I would have used desoldering braid to remove old solder and clean the areas first. If you apply fresh solder to that rohs crap it melts better.

The board especially where the others are saying parts are missing looks toasted i don't know if working any more on it will be help full. My suggestion is remove the excess solder and flux to make sure things are not getting shorted. Then find out of it is missing components and replace if possible.
