A proceess is in place to update the problematic router database with builds that work.

No build is perfect, but some builds have more problems that are more generally significant than others.

We invite your input. If you have a build that you are using and are finding works well, let us know your router make model and version, and the exact build you are using.

We are specifically looking for more recent builds that can be put in the router database, but any and all input is valued. This thread is not for making inquiries about your router. That is what the forum is for. This thread is to provide information about builds that you have found work well.

I like 12548 for older G routers, 15962, and 180xx builds, although openVPN isn't working for some with the 180xx builds.

It seems 21061 has been selected to be the standard in the database.
Any motivation why this builds has been selected.

No one came up with a better build?
Any motivation for not selecting this build?

The only problem I've encountered with 21061 seems to be an ssh problem...that's the only issue that I see with it.

its one of my fall back builds along with a nightly of 21038 (ssh working)....newer builds have all kinds of wireless intermittent problems (especially 5GHz), and inconsistent NAS issues as well.

dd-wrt.v24-15693_BS_NEWD_std-nokaid

on my Linksys WRT300Nv1 since it's pre-loopback bug, and all of the new ones since loopback's been fixed cause my laptops to drop connection after a day or so of uptime. 15693 is rock solid. I've had 60 days uptime before with 0 issues.

I am using build 21286 on a Netgear WNDR3300 (std) and on Linksys WRT54GS2 (micro) with excellent results and better connections with less errors than build 14929, which is what I was previously using. Really glad I finally upgraded both these units.

For the Linksys E1500, I would suggest build dd-wrt.v24-18946_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-nv64k.

The pptp server is option is broken in build r19327 and all of the builds following it have some weird, long distance wireless connection crash bug. All the builds I have installed and set up to my liking, the router has crashed within a couple of days.

B.S Mega build 15962. The best, most stable, and not "stripped down" build (IMO).

As for my current belkin devices I'm forced to be above 15337 K26 big.
And from time to time I need to use milkifsh, which is broken in several aspects between 17201 and 21676.

EDIT1: I have tested it, and is unstable for my BCM4718 corerev=17.

So, for somebody with my setup I would recommend 15962 K26 big. A plus on it -besides peackock thread recommending it- is Wi-viz and milkfish working.
EDIT2: Further info about buidls for these routers in this link.

I have an Asus RT-N16 and I have been using build 15962 since the day I started using DD-WRT. I have had very little issues with this build. Every now and again it will lose it settings and I will have to restore via the web interface but it is not that big of a set back. I also use this build for an Asus RT-N12 and that seems to work very well too.

Update: Wrote script to clear nvram. Never loses settings.

My requirements are stability, performance, SSH (remote management), and PPTP (remote LAN access).

Netgear WNDR4000 is currently my standard dual band router for small business and more demanding individual clients.

Supported by DD-WRT from build 17201.
Have not tried 17990 (recommended in Peacock).
Have not tried 18777 (gets good reports).
19342 (recommended in Wiki) has an issue with PPTP.
21061 (recommended in Peacock) has issues with PPTP and SSH.

Best build from my own experience and research is 21676. PPTP and SSH work.
My clients have been running this build 24x7 for months without issues.

Note: I have other routers deployed for which builds earlier than 18946 are not an option, and I prefer to run the same build on all devices where practical.

UPDATE: I now use Kong 22000++, which has proven to be both very stable and very fast.

I've had quite an adventure with my WNR3500Lv2. I know that this thread recommends build 14929 in general. While that does work on my router, I find that build 22118 (dated 7/24/13) seems to work the best. The exact file name for this image is dd-wrt.v24-22118_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-WNR3500L.chk. I have to flash it via the tftp method described here (web GUI update always fails for me). The 23138 build (and presumably later) bricks this router (as noted elsewhere on this forum but unbeknownst to me at the time), and I had to do the pin short to restore it to version 14929 to start over.

As a side note, I would like to be able to test other firmwares (in particular, a build of Tomato), but I can't find any way to flash them anymore now that DD-WRT is flashed. I cannot restore the original factory firmware via the web GUI or tftp command line method, and Tomato firmware images do not work either (firmware installation fails and the currently installed DD-WRT build just remains after the flash attempt/restart). After searching for quite a while, I still haven't found any way to restore the factory firmware, which would presumably allow me to attempt to install Tomato.

I've been using DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/12/10) mini - build 14929 for a couple of years now, and it's been working just fine.

I've used it in 2 different modes so far, and both have worked very well:

    *AP
    *Repeater Bridge
