Edit: I just noticed that todays builds (27435) includes the final release of Kernel 3.10.81, 4.0.6, 4.1. Reacent builds included the Release Candidate of such kernel, so, todays Broadcom should be running even better. Will report back

Edit: After using build 27435 I found it to be slow both in WiFi and overall router performace (my Broadcom Routers) so I migrated all of them to 27453. I found this build to be the best thus far.

Curious if you still feel this way about build 27453. I put it on my E2000 today and have been doing incremental tweaks after reading your post.
Using it strictly in repeater bridge mode, getting my iPhone and iPad connected to the wifi was a little wonky at first. Took a few re-boots for the devices as well as the router to finally get them to communicate consistently.
Just wondering if you've found a build you like better yet, or if you are still happy with 27453? I'm learning to try & take my cues from the veterans around here! Wink

There are just three builds after 27453 and non carry anything important to the Broadcom routers, so I am still on it.

I am very satisfied with it in all configurations and routers I have.

Repeater bridge mode is not perfect as old K2.4 routers/kernels used to be but at least they do their job in a satisfactory manner.

Repeater bridge are pretty much dependant on the main router. That is, if you reboot your main, you have to reboot/recycle your bridge most of the time.

Cheers

Edit: Forgot to say: You have to be very patient with RBs. They take a while to bring a stable VAP up. Initial handshaking is pretty fast (you can tell this when configured as a client bridge )

Have been running V24-Sp2 (12/20/11) mini build 18024 for some years without any serious problems except for an occasional re-boot. Very happy but should I consider updating. Any advice maybe useful. TIA Very Happy

@jheide44 -
any update on your comprehensive listing of your extensive router collection?
thank you for organising as such

based on your notes and my time-consuming trials and erros, i;ve gone back to kong 18730m on my wrt610 ap, but have been unable to find a 'best' build for ea6300v1 or ea6500 that i'm also deploying as AP's.

Rocking build 27858 on both my WRT350N v1 (broadcom) and a D-Link DIR835 (atheros) - SOLID, the best DD-WRT experience I have had for stability - thank you. Previously my WRT350N was retired for random frequent disconnects with wifi clients, but with 27858 that issue is gone - entirely. Even if this router has a 120Mbps cap... it now will be kept as a hot spare even when I get my WDR7500 Archer C7R running (originally, it was slated to hit the scrap heap).

I would like to give some quick feedback for the build 27858 (28/09/2015) for the Trendnet 811DRU (Broadcom based). I was previously having issues with an older beta I had tried which was running smoothly for a couple of weeks and then would "jam" the router every 15-20 minutes, particularly annoying when streaming movies. With build 27858, my router seems to be much more stable and robust, the few functions that I am interested in and have set up seem to be working like a charm.

For me, 27858 is a keeper for now Smile

I have tried to flash build dd-wrt.v24-27453_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-e2000 as recommended by rickW. I would not recommend it. Compared to 14929 there is a 10mb drop (40mbps) in wireless N (5Ghz) speed. LAN speed dropped to 55mbps. Other than the speeds it's working ok.

What's the best stable and fully working (at least mostly) version for the Asus RT-AC68U? ..and conversely any version to stay away from?

really, beyond working 2.4 and 5ghz wireless networks (and multiple SSID's), LAN ports, and port forwarding, that's about all I really need, no VPN or any of that kinda stuff. Oh, and is there a particular build point at which all of the LED lights still work, or start working? Just replaced my buffalo wzrhp300gnh, and I don't want to muck up this new box with a bad build.

Thanks Smile

I'm running Kong 22000 on two Asus RT-N16s. As an access point it's fine, but unbridged wireless repeater is unusable due to it being unable to maintain a connection for longer than a few seconds.

My wireless security settings are WPA2 Personal Mixed and AES. NG-Mixed network, fixed channel and 20MHz channel width.

Wired connection seems fine, and other than the known hardware issues - insufficient NVRAM and sometimes losing settings on reboot - Kong works well.

I was looking for a stable build with the fixed Broadcom drivers but I don't think those came in until much later.

Krypte,

In regards to Repeater Bridged mode, Found that Kong 22000++ works the best until now. I lost count of the number of other builds that I tried without success, especially 26138. I got two e4200 dd-wrt flashed to 26138 (30/30/30 each time of course) and fully connected as right now. They talk to each other with a high TX error rate and a frequent dropping wireless connection. More I could not connect any device (iphone or samsung or ipad) to the Virtual interface of the repeater bridge with WPA2/AES on. I get a couple of errors messages like unknown password or/and unable ot join. That's strange that since Kong build, no one build has ever handled the repeater bridge bug (WPA2/AES on Virtual Interface). Tons of builds are being tested but no one works for repeater bridge mode. Really strange!!

Thanks KrypteX!!!

It's Broadcom, try latest 26490. If you have problems, go back to 26138.

thanks for quick response.
Are the latest builds also good for Repeater / Bridge mode?
Could not find anything specific about that.

It's a wrt610n v2

That's why I said to go back to 26138 (or maybe 26339, not sure about this though), if you have problems with Repeater/Repeater Bridge on 26490.

Just to put this out there: I've been using Tathagata Das' build based on 28514. It's been up 12 days and counting.. no issues at all.

28000 is very stable, tested over 2-3 months. I had an odd issue, no Android device would get over 60mbps on speedtest. However Intel wifi cards all got the proper speeds with no issues, probably bad config on my part.

Currently testing 28600 with no speed issues with the same Android devices, wifi seems very stable. Hoping no weird issues or reboots, if it holds up i'm sticking to this build until stable 4.4 builds are released.

28600 was a solid build for me with no reboots and great wifi during the entire month of February, 28600 will be my go to build if newer builds don't hold up.

Currently testing 29165, only reason to upgrade was kong recommended it for privoxy from build 29155 and up which i do not have a copy of so went to the latest.

The max 60mbps issue occurred on 29165 as well and is caused by enabling QoS and leaving download limit to 0, one i gave it a proper value speeds are back to normal.

reading this thread makes me realize that most of these builds are really crapshoots

but the question remains, when you see reports of people not having success, do you then remove those builds or update them?

ive already had issues with 2 random builds from the last 2 months for the RT-AC56U when trying to upgrade from the latest 2015 December build
