Well, there might be a weird serial console port buried in the WAN port if your bootloader really is fubar, but first let me ask you what OS are you using? "Unreachable" is actually standard on Windows 7 & 8 instead of "no response". Does arp -a list 192.168.1.1? Can you try with another computer or another patch cable? What firmware were you running previously?

...And yes you can flash wirelessly but it is a really dumb idea. Maybe not in your situation, but let's determine if your LAN really is cheesed first. Management mode should work as well, regardless. I love that management mode! I flash firmware to my router with my android phone wirelessly all the time out of laziness. Well, until my handset decided to migrate networks mid-flash. Hence my statement about tftp flashing my e3000 with Windows 7. Compounded laziness!

Maybe I'm relying on Management Mode too much, but I have both an e1500 and an e3000 that have it enabled and it's a fantastic failsafe in my opinion. One time I thought I had bricked my e1500. Unplugged it and walked off frustrated. Came back a few minutes later and fired up SliTaz and management mode and whadda-ya-know, it was there right as rain. Thing is my Windows machine took an unexplained random dump and failed to ping it even with a static route. Perhaps the same in your case?

You're supposed to power off the router, hold down reset and plug it back in releasing reset after 5 seconds, but I just tap the button a few times on startup and that seems to work fine for me.

We might have to move this conversation to another thread if it gets off topic, but maybe we should just let a moderator make that call. Might be relevant since it's K3.x. I will also say that strangeness like what you describe about the model listing incorrectly was also noticed by me as well with several bad K3.x flashes. Could be from doing a 30/30/30 with a network cable plugged in. Seemed to not do the reset unless I unplugged all the network cables on my e-series routers.

I just posted my reply but I cant see it in the forum.

In any event here is what I said:

- this is the Kong thread i followed reacently for my E2000/E3000 which are a Cisco BCM4718 , same as the F7D7301

http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=260282&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

-Konkg´s FTP site is http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/K26/

-The build I am using in both my E2000 and E3000 is http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/K26/r22000++/usb-ftp-samba3-dlna-nv60k-broadcom.bin

-when you flash , be carefull to do a 30/30/30 without cables connected before and after flashing and always keep a good mini trailed build at hand just in case you have to tftp due to a bad flash.

- Before jumping into Kong`s build I suggest you going to a mini trailed build proper for your router

Cheers

Will there be an updated version for AC MIPS devices that have HW acceleration enabled??

I tried compiling the latest repo from source by using the broadcom_K3x/.config_ac but it fails miserably Sad

Guys just loaded and tested the 24461 K3.X mega build after a few years of running the old V24 PreSP2 Build 21061 that is STILL RECOMMENDED in router database!! Sad

boo fohkin hoo http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database

Why doesn't anyone update that? If they had, it would have saved me a few hours of my time.... multiply that by countless people who probably trust that nearly two year old code is the newest approved code!! Can I get an amen? lol

Anyhow, I found the 24461 mega build here: http://dd-wrt.com/site/support/other-downloads?path=others%2Feko%2FBrainSlayer-V24-preSP2%2F2014%2F06-23-2014-r24461%2Fbroadcom_K3X%2F

I absolutely love the extended feature set in MEGA, and I am also going to sleep well tonight knowing I am on a 3.x code base, and a relatively new build.

Good luck gents!

Hi all,

I've installed the dd-wrt.v24-24461_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-nv64k.bin image on my WNDR3400 router.
All seem to be working well (both wireless freq).

However, USB Storage doesn't seem to work well.
The reason I installed this version is to be able to connect a 4TB USB drive to my router.
Every file system I try to put on my drive is unrecognized by the router with this error: "Not mounted - Unsupported file system or disk not formated".

The router finally recognizes my device size correctly, but fails to recognize the partition size correctly.

I checked the supported file systems (by doing: more /proc/filesystems) and there are no "usable" file systems on the list (like ext3, ext4, ntfs, etc.).

Here is the UI output:
--- /dev/sda
Block device, size 3.639 TiB (4000752599040 bytes)
DOS/MBR partition map
Partition 1: 465.7 GiB (500093943808 bytes, 976745984 sectors from 256)
Type 0x83 (Linux)
First 124 KiB are blank
Status: Not mounted - Unsupported file system or disk not formated

And here is the output of /proc/filesystems:
nodev sysfs
nodev rootfs
nodev bdev
nodev proc
nodev tmpfs
nodev debugfs
nodev sockfs
nodev pipefs
nodev anon_inodefs
nodev devpts
squashfs
nodev ramfs
nodev mtd_inodefs
nodev usbfs

Am I doing something wrong or is the image missing these filesystems?

Another question, should I use the dd-wrt.v24-24461_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-nv64k image or the dd-wrt.v24-24461_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-WNDR3400.chk image?

Thanks,
Joe.

Small update on my previous post.
It was my fault. I was using a Dos partition table for a large USB drive.

Switching to GPT partition table and using ext3 as the file system solved the issue.

So this image seem to be great for the WNDR3400.

Testing: dd-wrt.v24-24160_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega_RT-N10U.trx

on hardware: Asus RT-N10U.

Test does not go well, as router keeps rebooting, as is also seen in serial.log

For the heck of it i tested a load onto my WNDR3400v1.
Does not come to life after flash process and 30/30/30.

i have not made my serial cable yet, have been using the jumper method on the wndr3400v1. It has been working 4 different times now untill NOW Smile I tried the flash after running into sshd problems with dd-wrt.v24-21061_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin . everything else seems to work.

Hope this helps someone Smile

PostPosted: Sat Oct 11, 2014 6:35    Post subject: k3.x (24461 mega) - E4200 - 3TB NAS (NTFS)? Possible? Reply with quote
Hi folks,

I've searched around all evening, and can't quite figure out whether or not it is possible to get a 3TB NTFS-formatted drive hooked up as NAS through my e4200.

Certain posts seem to suggest I might be able to, if only I could use a big build - (currently am on mega k3x 24461). Because the "big" build is 20+MB, I do not think I can flash it on my e4200 (which seems to have a max flash size of 16MB).

I wouldn't be opposed to changing file formats on the drive, though if I have to, I would hope to do it non-destructively, because I do not have another drive of that size to move everything onto while I format it. Can't seem to do a non-destructive format of a 3TB drive to fat32 (not even entirely clear I can get a fat32 to be more than 2TB).

Help?

Appreciated.

Thanks,

Veritas
