Is there a reason why there isn't a dedicated build for the WA830RE v2?

And is one build preferred over the other (WR841NDv8 vs WA901ND v3)?

hello,
and thank you everyone for your job.
I have a question. My model is WA830REv2 and I installed the DD-WRT v3.0-r27506. I have this version and I've seen the new build 28211 and KrypteX says: "If the attached build works for you, it can be further updated with any newer-than-28211 webflash build for TL-WA901ND v3.". Does it mean that I could install after the last build r29147 (for example)? Is it recommended to stay updated?

Thank you,

Would we benefit from the upgrade with this HW either performance or security? If we do, which is the build we should use to up DD-WRT v3.0-r27506 (07/09/15) std with?

Thanks!

Hello i installed dd-wrt on my wa830re v2 and i faced problems. I follow all the instructions here but in the menu it has no repeater category only ap/bridge etc. Also i follow the link that big.jack post about make the extender but this didn't help. I think my router stuck after apply changes and also i cant connect or find the virtual network that i create to connect. Is something that i do wrong? Also can anyone tell me if i want to go back to tplink official software how i can do it? just install the stock build from tplink site?

its right there, ist call Client Bridge Router you are Tp-Link, they use Atheros Chip not Broadcom
change ip to your DD-WRT to same subnet as the router you want to repeat
6. Open the Wireless -> Basic Settings tab
Physical Interface Section
Wireless Mode : Client Bridge (routed)
Default Gateway Mode : Manual
Gateway : Point to Gateway for network, usually IP of primary router
Wireless Network Mode : Must Match Primary Router
Wireless Network Name(SSID) : Must Match Primary Router exactly including exact case- Make sure you spell this correctly
Wireless Channel : Must Match Primary Router (This will disappear once you put it in RB mode, and isn't needed)
Wireless SSID Broadcast : Enable
Network Configuration : Bridged
Save
Virtual Interfaces Section
Add
Wireless Network Name(SSID) : Same as the primary router (v24SP2 I have not had any problems with signal dropping)
[NOTE] - You CAN try using the same SSID but it usually will not work properly. Many have had random disconnects and/or no connection if the SSID's are the same.
Wireless SSID Broadcast : Enable
Save
DONT make the mistake of loading a firmware from Tplink or you will brick your 830

thanks very much danymarc. The point is that i want to connect to wifi that is not mine. In gateway how i can learn the ip of the primary router that i want to connect? Also the password of the wireles network where i put it in. Thanks very much for helping me. Another problem i had is that i want to connect to a wifi that is open without password. The thing is that it has inside a login web page. I have the passwords for login page but i cannt make the extender to repeat that wireless network. (it doesn't transfer me to login page. Just tell me that i have no internet). Is something about settings i must do to work this? in google search i read that i must do a virtual mac adress? Anybody knows about it?

More than a year ago I remember reading a post about DD-WRT and Captive Portal or Login Page and this forumer did it, I never saved that Topic, was a interesting one, someone else will have to jump to help on this one
In Status Tab/Wireless at the bottom there is Survey tab click, wait and you will see the SSID you wa my to join, click join and Save & Apply
To learn the ip from primary router, I assume you are connected via smartphone, Tablet or Laptop, the info is right there, in any device
You input password in Wireless/Wireless Security, but is not your case you posted is a open network with Login page

Hi,

I flashed the Install firmware from here:
https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/hwdata/tp-link/tp-link_tl-wa830re_v2

This file:
https://downloads.openwrt.org/chaos_calmer/15.05/ar71xx/generic/openwrt-15.05-ar71xx-generic-tl-wa830re-v2-squashfs-factory.bin

I did it from the stock webinterface. It said flashed successfully, then it rebooted. Now the left to LEDs are on but nothing happens. What went wrong ?
