Help me flash my tp-link tl wa830re v2
Hi everybody!
I'm french and the more i reed the less i understand how to flash that satanic modele!
I understood that it is not easy for this device, but it's too late, I bought it, and some of you succed in flashing it. So why cant i do it ? (because i really do not understand (and affraid) how to solve the error 18005, even if i read and traduce the solution given here : https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?pid=168045#p168045
that i found in the post dedicated to the wa830re v2 here: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=171908&highlight=tplink+wa830re.

Q1. does everyone have the 18005 error ? why ?
Q2. how to avoid this error ?
Q3. how to use the tp?????.exe ? (step by step)
Q3. is that the 1st thing i must do ?(if error 18005)
Q4. when must i do the 30/30/30 ?

Merci very much !

EDIT : now it run well ! I finally find how to use the tp????.exe , i didnt understand that it was usefull to change something in the .bin ?

Well, I tried the serial unbrick, but I am very unluck with this router.

After the U-boot reset (final step) the 'config' and power led are on, but I cant get serial transmission anymore. The router is stuck, I think Uboot was erased... Confused

Any ideias? If I write the flash by SPI, could it work again ?

Thanks!

I have flashed successfully a 830RE v2, grabbing the latest DD-WRT firmware image for the 841ND v8 and editing it with the chinese tool mentioned on the OpenWRT forum.

I'll ulpload an image when I got home (I'm at work now!) Very Happy

Hi, it's really great news. May be you can write a guide, how to install dd-wrt on this extender. Because it works really bad with default firmware. I think so many people would appreciate your help.

Have anyone actually flashed this AP/Repeater with dd-wrt and it's working without problems? And if so, how did you do it? Just download a good version for 841NDv8 and run it with the chineese tool and then flash just that image? Why in that case? In the start of thread we got a factory-to-ddwrt.bin, doesn't that work?

Sorry, just don't want to brick it, specially when you already seems to be running wrt on it. However it is very unstable with stock FW, so it wouldn't be the end of the world if it died either but, hopefully dd-wrt will flash successfully and make this AP atleast somewhat working, with the ability to change some settings. Read all the thread from page 1 and you will answer and understand your question, there are 2 scenarios, worked for some and didn't for others.

I have read it, two times! And yes, exactly, there are two different ways people done it, and the first some says didn't work, so it would be nice to hear from the last of them which method they used. And the second method, did they use the factory-to-ddwrt or not? I guess they didn't but. Anyway, that was just part of my question, the other being if it made this pos AP any better. And if there are any bugs, since FW isn't really made for this. But I guess I have to try for myself, worst case I buy better stuff.

From stock FW always factory, sys upgrade it's when you all ready have DD-WRT and you want to upgrade to a new build.
But in this case this worked for XCAT2008 read his post http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=171908&start=0

I flashed my WA830RE v2 Successfully with the WR841ND v8 firmware.
Maybe it´s useful for someone.

First I made a hardreset.
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Hard_reset_or_30/30/30
After that I downloaded everything important.

http://dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/07-24-2013-r22118/tplink_tl-wr841ndv8/factory-to-ddwrt.bin

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12258575/TP-LINK_TL-WR700N/TL-MR3020_MOD_TL-WR703_ENG/TP%E8%B7%AF%E7%94%B1%E5%9B%BA%E4%BB%B6%E5%A4%B4%E4%BF%AE%E6%94%B9%E5%B7%A5%E5%85%B7.exe

Then I plugged my WA830RE on my computer.

Open the TP?????????.exe and load the factory-to-ddwrt.bin firmware like AppXene posted
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=767810
and entered the two Hex codes to avoid the 18005 error.
0x40-0x43: 08300002
0x44-0x47: 00000001
finish by clicking the left button on the bottom.

Here you can see how to use TP?????????.exe
https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?pid=168045#p168045

Then I flashed the factory-to-ddwrt.bin firmware via Web_GUI.
After finishing I made another Hardreset to be safe..

Connected via WLAN and click on "Setup" and change the following

#WAN Connection Type
Connection Type - "Disabled"

check mark from "assign wan port to switch"

I connected via LAN and flashed the actual tl-wr841nd-webflash.bin firmware
(don´t change the hex codes with TP??????.exe)

it´s recommend to do another hardreset but I didn´t do that..

Now I was able to configure the routers (bought 2 of them..)

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Wireless_Access_Point

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge#Atheros

btw. I changed my WLAN to N-only what didn´t work on the laptop of my wife..not able to connect
When I changed it to "NG-Mixed" everything worked again..strange
took me some hours to find the failure Wink

File for reverting from DD-WRT to STOCK FIRMWARE

Hello,
You can try this one:
http://pan.baidu.com/wap/link?uk=3372662113&shareid=543978&third=0
rem: it's easier to find it if you copy this (which seems to be the original chinese written form) into google search field:

tp路由固件头修改工具.exe

=> http://www.google.com/search?hl=fr&q=tp%E8%B7%AF%E7%94%B1%E5%9B%BA%E4%BB%B6%E5%A4%B4%E4%BF%AE%E6%94%B9%E5%B7%A5%E5%85%B7.exe
