Today, I just found out a issue with frequency compatibility using N-Only mode. This took me over 15min to figure out why one of my desktop was refusing to make a connection begin everything fine and up-to-date.

I use a GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB WiFi MB which is based on Atheros AR5BWB222. When I config my TL-WR1043ND to N-Only AR5BWB222 refuses to connect!

The funny thing is I'm still able to see my "SSID"! So it should allow connectivity, but it don't.

Anyone got more informations on AR5BWB222 specs? On Gigabyte it says "Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Supports 2.4/5 GHz Dual-Band".

If I change my TL-WR1043ND to NG-Mixed it works (of course it must using G-band).

The PCIe card is also called as GC-WB300D.

I have the same problem, the wifi mode select N-only(2.4G) that can't connect to 1043ND by AR9285.
Anyone know which version not have this issue that can run on 300M ? Thanks.

Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/15/13) std
SVN revision 21286

Glad to know is a bug.

Btw, on my Intel 633ANHMW N-band works fine. So not every card/chipset is affected.

Reported as bug:

I have the same problem with fimrware r21153 and two before it.

I hope somebody can confirm if the problem is fixed in the last firmware.

This is the topic about N-band issues only, for last build check:

Any news on this subject ?

I tried connection using my JiaYu G3S mobile phone (MTK 6589 chipset) with more then 3 different firmwares - no success with N-only. Possibly all other MTK mobiles will not work.

Switched back to original firmware - no such problem !

There is a workaround for this issue.

Change the router to mixed N/G and your wireless card will connect 300mbps no problem, provided all wireless cards on the network support wireless N.

It's not the same. If it's switched on mixed N/G and the MTK device is the only one connected the speed is much slower. So definitely there is a problem with the "N" mode.

Recently I bought a new phone ZTE v967s.
It uses MTK6589 CPU and I am experiencing the same problem. Once if I set my 1043ND to N/G mixed, my mobile phone can connect to my router but will stop response in several minutes.
The version that I am using is DD-WRT v24-sp2 (07/24/13) std

AND..

for those who are wondering, the WR1043ND "N" bug is still existent in r23082. I upgraded my WR1043ND from 22118 to 23082 and the wireless N bug is still there. The "mixed mode" trick however, still works to get 300mbps link speed.

Always willing to help out the scene. Cool
