Bump for v8.4 support. Bought two of these based on the router database. When they arrived I double checked and found that the current version (8.4) is not supported.

Name me stupid or drunk but I see a TL-WR841N v8.4 in my hands. It is running DD-WRT build 20676 successfully. Also TP-LINK have never had such practice to change hardware in subversions. I think this is a rumor that this revision does not work with DD-WRT and that rumor is not true. I only have a problem with not working lan port leds on this device.

thanks Checho! I was considering returning it because it seems slower than the old Linksys it's replacing. I guess I'll try to flash it, and if it doesn't work return it anyway.

PS, can you confirm the build #? I see 20675 and 21676

Well, it's confirmed. Installing this bricked the v8.4 device. I'm returning for a Buffalo unit.

So have you found the cause for why v8.4 routers are bricked by dd-wrt? I assume, Rouky's picture shows a v8.4 which was bricked by flashing dd-wrt, just like Upstate's (who unfortunately didn't upload a picture).

Also, shouldn't somebody update the router database or write a big fat warning on some wiki page about wr841n v8?

I just bought two TL-WR841N today because I was so happy with the 741. Only realized it wasn't compatible when I had bricked the first (simply checked the database before). Had to return both. Somebody should add a warning to the database...
