|
I get the feeling that what I'm trying to do cannot be done, but I'm hoping someone here can confirm my suspicion.
Goal: I have a Picostation M2 HP. I'd like to extend the distance of a guest wifi network, whether that guest be configured on the main router, or the PicoStation itself.
I tried using stock firmware, and couldn't find anything that worked. A chat with Ubiquiti confirmed that what I was trying to do could not be done.
I then loaded DDWRT (it wouldn't let me post the link for some reason but PC2M-DD-WRT.bin) and gave that a go. I don't see an option for Repeater or Repeater Bridge. For the heck of it I tried Client Bridge (routed) even though I know the Wiki says Client Bridge is to wirelessly connect two LANs, with the secondary router only accepting wired connections. But I tried it because I had the option of adding an additional wireless interface, which made me think maybe it was possible in this mode. So I set up the additional interface and security, setup separate DHCP, and of course I could see the additional wifi network, and it even asked me for a password, but then errored saying "could not connect".
Is what I'm trying to do impossible with this device? If so, can anyone recommend another device that could accomplish this?
Thanks 1000 times in advance for any help and advice!! |
