Is there any consensus on a good stable build for the wzr-1750dhp? I'm currently running DD-WRT v3.0-r28493M std (12/10/15). It has been running like a champ but 10 month old firmware seems a bit dated.
I've tried pouring through the forums here but can't seem to find any real answers.

It will get WiFi signal quality boosted since r30370M -- if my memory is not wrong.
To me the r30700M does not have any unstable issue on this unit with PPPoE, 4 SSID (WiFi 5G *2 , 2.4G * 2), OpenVPN (tap or tun), SSH tunnel, DNS Masquerade, USB2 pen drive (/jffs), QoS enabled. It was just asked that a NVRAM fully clean-up action is required when the FW is upgraded from r2xxxx to r3xxxx. _________________ Buffalo WZR-1750DHP

Thanks! Upgraded to 30700M smoothly and seems to be running fine. I appreciate the help.

Out of curiosity, has anyone successfully restored a WZR-1750DHP with this official WZR-1750DHPD, (custom DD-WRT), recovery .enc file from Buffalo? It is my understanding that the hardware is the same for both devices.
I've been trying on an actual 1750DHPD version of this device that was flashed to 1750DHP by a "tech" who thought he was doing us a favor by upgrading us to the latest 2.29 firmware and it keeps telling me invalid firmware version.

I was told by people deep inside Buffalo that the hardware for these two units is exactly the same, yes.

Hello everybody.
I bricked my WZR-1750DHP trying to update with the stock firmware. Now it just blink red and reboot all the time.
I tried to de-brick it with a usb-ttl cable, but I had a lot of strangers things.
First, when I connect the router RX to TX on usb, and the router TX to RX on usb and the ground of each, I can't see anything on console, and the router doesn't boot, it only light a green light on the back.
But when I revert the things (router RX to RX usb) and dont connect the ground, the router boots (in loop), I still can't see anything on console until a plug the ground again.
Now I see all the informations on screen, but I can't send the break key.
I only see things, but I can't send any command.
I have mine on build 28444 but the wireless connectivity has been terrible. I have been trying to flash another version but every time i try with a wired connection in the gui it starts the 300 second countdown gets to about 298 then my router starts flashing red three times and a pause the internet still works and wireless but i can no longer access the gui. I have tried all different versions i have also set a static ip of 192.168.1.8 on the computer i am trying to flash from along with a factory reset before.
I'm having the exact same problem.
I started with an out-of-the-box WZR-1750DHP running 2.09.
I downloaded the factory-to-dd-wrt.bin file from the router db (http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database) page for the WZR-1750DHP.
Tried to upload the .bin but I get the same behaviour described above: upload stops at 297 seconds, browser throws a connection reset error. Router still works but web gui is offline until I restart the router.
I'm going to try Kong's R30880 build (http://desipro.de/ddwrt/K3-AC-Arm/r30880/dd-wrt.v24-K3_AC_ARM_STD.bin) and the original build from the router DB page to see what happens.
Does anyone know why 28444 on the WZR-1750 is behaving like this? Is there something special I have to do to flash the Kong firmware?
I'll give that a shot, but is there any reason to believe it's related?
I've now tried Kong R30700, R30880, the original webflash, and the recovery .enc file posted earlier in this thread, and non of them are accepted by the router's webgui.
I am the proud owner of a WZR-1750 irrevocably locked to BrainSlayer 28444, it appears :/
...
There's also the first step to figure out how to get the file onto the router (either attached USB or HDD, or SCP to transfer the file).
On WinSCP:
1 Select New Site;
2 File protocol: SCP;
3 Hostname: your router IP; Default port is 22, but may vary depending on custom configs
4 Username: root
5 Password: your admin pass
6 Drag downloaded firmware from Download folder and drop in /tmp
On PuTTY;
1 SSH or telnet to your router's IP address.
2 Login using root user and admin password;
3 Type:
cd /tmp (Enter)
mtd -r write xxxxx.bin linux (Enter) (Replace xxxxx with your firmware filename...)
Finally I managed to recover my Buffalo and flash DD-WRT.
(search for my posts for full story)
I downloaded last webflash bin file from router database.
Configured tftp-hpa on my ubuntu server to serve it as webflash.bin.
In cfe console (usb to ttl adapter and Putty):
(I used ifconfig for setting IP and GW...)
flash -erase -offset=0 nflash1.trx
flash -noheader -size=27615232 192.168.0.106:webflash.bin nflash1.trx
reboot
