hi.

I am trying to setup my Asus RT-N10+ router as a repeater using dd-wrt. My primary router is a Dlink DSL-2750U (10.0.0.2).
In the web interface for the ASUS I have configured the following:

1) Wireless -> Basic Settings: Set up the SSID to match my primary router.
2) Wireless -> Wireless Security: Set up the password to match my primary SSID.
3) Setup -> Basic Setup: Connection Type will be: Disabled
IP Address :10.0.0.3
Mask : 255.255.255.0
Gateway:10.0.0.2
DHCP Server: Disable
4) Setup -> Advanced Routing: Set Operating mode to "Router"
5) Disable Dnsmasq
6) Security -> Firewall: Disable SPI firewall

The Asus picks up the SSID and it boosts the signal, the problem I am having is that the Asus is not giving out IP addresses. If I connect to the Asus (10.0.0.3) I get an auto configuration IP.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

I found a tutorial:
http://pctechz.com/dd-wrt-repeater-bridge/

It does everything that I had already done, but for some reason when i followed that, it worked. maybe it is the order of how you do it, I am not sure.

Hi there,

Could you provide some details on the versions / settings that you used? I'm trying to get Repeater (Bridge) running DD-WRT on an Asus RT-N10+ rev C1 to connect to a Linksys router (WRT54G I think) running stock.

I'm stuck at this point:

- Connecting in Client mode works perfectly. LAN clients can connect to the internet through the RT-N10+.
- In Repeater or Repeater Bridge modes, the RT-N10+ doesn't connect to the host network. Instead, it makes a new network visible with the same name as the host network. I.e. it runs like it's an access point, while it should connect tot he host as a client and bridge this network.

I've tried both versions from the main download page (21061 and 16785). No difference.

So any details on your running situations are welcome! For example:
- DD-WRT build number
- Wifi Encryption settings

cheers,
Aron

W.r.t. to my last reply: I've got the Repeater and Repeater Bridge modes working with a different source wifi network (Android personal hotspot as a test). Apparently my problem is in the combination of source router / configuration and DD-WRT.

See this topic for details: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=178446&highlight=

I would still be interested to hear about your configuration though.

Cheers,
Aron
