I have to install a little wireless AP between a PC and its incoming UTP network cable so i'm gonna buy a TP-Link TL-WR710N but unfortunately it doesn't have official DD-WRT support yet. Sad

The device based on the popular Atheros AR9331 SoC and has 32MB RAM. According the basic specs it's very similar to supported TL-WR703N but TL-WR710N (rev. v1.1 & v1.2) has twice as much flash memory (8MB).

Can I give it a try with the DD-WRT firmware for TL-WR703N? What do you think?

Btw, is there any chance for official DD-WRT support?

Thanks

I've found some additional info (boot log, etc.): link

I don't see any major differences between ver. 1.1 and 1.2.

Sorry, there is no other suitable dd-wrt build (AR9331, 8MB flash) which I can modify for WRT710N.

Can you modify TL-WR703N's FW? Not an issue if it doesn't use up all 8MB flash.

No, a 4MB build will not find the caldata partition if it is flashed into an 8MB flash. No caldata = no wifi.

I didn't know that. Sad So, should I give up the hope for DD-WRT on this device or is there still a chance if Sash once finished his exams?

Thanks

I know that there is a working OpenWRT support but I just don't like the whole OpenWRT. I would rather prefer DD-WRT if possible.

I've also bought a TL-WR710N(EU) ver. 1.1.

I've installed openwrt on it, but i would gladly change to dd-wrt.

I'll patiently wait for a release of dd-wrt that supports this router.
