These guys make quite a few elegant solutions for providing power to non-PoE devices over Cat-5 cabling:

Nice tutorial

As i am new to all this, i wanted to know how can we get rid of the power adapter of the GL. Actually what i want to do is power the GL from the cable modem it is attached Is there any possibility to do this?

The cable modem is a motorola surfboard sb4200e and the internal power circuit has four DC out voltages of 1.8V, 3.3V, 5V and 30V.

Is there the possibility to use one of these outputs to inject power through the ethernet cable and power the GL?
