Ok, here are a few things to try.

1. I read somewhere (don't remember where) that the insmod order is important. I do not know if it is very important.
insmod /jffs/lib/modules/2.4.30/usbcore.o
insmod /jffs/lib/modules/2.4.30/ehci-hcd.o
insmod /jffs/lib/modules/2.4.30/scsi_mod.o
insmod /jffs/lib/modules/2.4.30/sd_mod.o
insmod /jffs/lib/modules/2.4.30/sg.o
insmod /jffs/lib/modules/2.4.30/usb-storage.o
insmod /jffs/lib/modules/2.4.30/fat.o
insmod /jffs/lib/modules/2.4.30/vfat.o
insmod /jffs/lib/modules/2.4.30/jbd.o
insmod /jffs/lib/modules/2.4.30/ext3.o

2. I have read and also found that there is a need for some wait time between the insmods and the mounts. I find 3 seconds the minimum wait time - you may want to try 5 seconds to start with.
sleep 5

3. When mounting, I think we have no access to the /mnt directory. We can only use the /tmp directory tree - which is RAM memory. I think the rest of the file system is read only in flash memory. In addition, your mount command does not specify the file system you will be using. In my case I use vfat. I first put the usb stick into a windows 2000 pc and formatted it with FAT32 file system.
mkdir /tmp/usbstick
chmod 777 /tmp/usbstick
sleep 5
mount -t vfat /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1 /tmp/usbstick

Hope these steps will help you.

I am sorry you are having difficulty mounting the USB STICK.

The CIFS error messages you are getting, has nothing to do with the USB stick mount.

You are also incorrectly mounting a CIFS volume.
I also mount a CIFS volume residing on a windows PC.

the "df -h" command shows the mounted items.

# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 3.0M 3.0M 0 100% /
/dev/mtdblock/4 4.1M 1.9M 2.3M 45% /jffs
\134\13410.0.0.25\134router 338.2G 17.0G 321.2G 5% /tmp/smbshare
/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1 981.3M 64.0k 981.3M 0% /tmp/usbstick

You can see my USB memory stick mounted as /tmp/usbstick - 981Mbytes,
and my CIFS share mounted as /tmp/smbshare - 338GBytes

How are you mounting the CIFS share?
Show us the mount command.

CIFS:

The example assumes:
The CIFS share is on PC with ip address 10.0.0.25
The CIFS share name is "router"
You will use PC account: xxxx with password: yyyy

mkdir /tmp/smbshare
chmod 777 /tmp/smbshare
insmod cifs
sleep 5
mount -t cifs \\10.0.0.25\router /tmp/smbshare -o unc=\\\\10.0.0.25\\router,ip=10.0.0.25,user=xxxx,pass=yyyy

Note that the line with "unc" should really be after the -o on the line above - there should be a blank between the "-o" and the "unc". This forum does not allow very long lines. Also, there are no typing mistakes - you really need all those "/" and "\"s - if one is missing it will not work.
