Hello,
I want to flash this router with the DD-WRT firmware.
So via the router database i downloaded the correct bin.
=> DIR-615 Rev D Firmware - Webflash image for first installation (and i'm sure i'm on the D3)
So when i try to upload this firmware file via the web gui, i get the following error: "The chosen file is not a valid firmware image file."
I tried several other versions, all giving me the same error msg. I watched a youtube video explaning how to upload firmware and he doesn't receive this error.
What is the exact name and size of the bin file you downloaded?
Via the database, I see that it should be named;
"dlink-dir615d-factory-webflash.bin" and it shows size in windows explorer to be 3,549 Kb, also note that this firmware is based on dd-wrt build 21061.
I do not know what causes that problem, maybe some check sum error thing? If I were you, I might dl the file using a different web browser; Chrome, FireFox and Internet Explorer. More important, use a different browser to upload the file to the router.
I have had success using Chrome, while other here often recommend IE.
Nobody can help me out troubleshooting this issue? Tried different browsers, different PC's all give same result: "The chosen file is not a valid firmware image file."
I really want to try out dd wrt, do i have to buy another router?
