here some new for the german heise publisher regarding
busybox against verizon. because they did not offer the sources of the linux based actiontec routers they sell
It reads that there has been a settlement and Actiontec will be the ones to release the code. So either we will see something new on the Actiontec open source page or if what we've seen already is all we'll get. I don't know how much of a change there is between what they already released and what is in in the Verizon flavor of the package.
the heise press wrote that verizon is responsible by themselfs for providing the sources and changes and they will nominate an "Open Source Compliance Officer".
and of cause they have to pay cash to busybox*g* _________________ Forum Guidelines...How to get help

Brainslayer! I am excited about your upcoming port. Best of luck to you with your hammer smashing Jungo fun! I am sure we'll be into this box soon. I am looking forward to using the device as a client and NAT or bridging the ethernet ports.
anyhow must the wlan card be replaced if its not atheros based.
This is a new area of DD-WRT for me, having only used Broadcom based WRT54's in the past. Anything special that I need to look for when replacing the wireless card in the Actiontec? Just find any Atheros based mini-PCI card and call it good? Any recommendations?
Hope things are going smooth with the work to get DD-WRT on these routers!
Ive got the 20/20 and the old linksys WRT-54G V2 is too slow for 20/20 and this is double the processor speed and ram so it should run SWEET with DD-WRT !!
I know it would be impossible to figure out a timeframe that this would be completed.. but what are the possibilities so far that this device will not be able to support dd-wrt? I just went and bought one of these (I already have one for my Fios) so that I could utilize DD-WRT when it is released for this device, instead of trying to find a good deal later down the line. Picked up a Actiontec from this guy locally for about 25$ so I had to jump on it.
Ok, I finally got my hands on a second one of these so I have a unit to play around with and not fuxor my current one required for the set top boxes. This one happened to be a rev C. Still Verizon branded, roundish black with silver trim shell but definitely a different board inside. Easy way to identify the differences is that rev D had no heat sinks, SMT LEDs and no identifiable JTAG/serial pad. Rev C has 3 heat sinks on the main chips, standard 3mm LEDs that rise up off the board and a 2x10 hole (20 pin) solder pad of some sort. Don't know if this would be JTAG or serial. The wireless card on the C, while at quick glance appears to be the same one as on the D, is not soldered into place at the spring clips. It pops right out after separating it from a couple double-sided tape pads on the underside. If I wanted to remove this card on my rev D I would need to unsolder the spring clips first. It appears that this rev C unit will be my tester of choice. I'll try and get some pics of it posted next week, will put them in the public domain again. (still trying to get my hands on one of the older "brick" types... #$^@@#$ deadbeat ebay seller!)
So at this point I've got a unit ready to test and experiment with. Since I have yet to get any JTAG cable I've built to work (only tried once or twice tho) and know nothing about the Redboot (I think?) bootloader mentioned earlier there isn't a whole lot I can do with this right now other than run the issued firmware. If there is any way I can use this to help the project please let me know, but understand I may need some assistance as I enter new areas!
I have been following this thread for a couple of months now and check it daily in hopes that this has been completed or that at least some progress has been made. Are there any updates as to the status of this project?

I use DD-WRT on all my family's compatible linksys routers, and I specifically bought a WHR-G125 for myself which gives me continual enjoyment. A $700 functionality router for <$50.00UDS. But that is off topic.
I check ddwrt daily for firmware updates and every time I come across a new router, for compatibility. This thread has pleased me greatly. I am purchasing one of these immediately.
The question is: Since it says "Refurbished," and considering the problems actiontec/verizon had with the lovely open source software they were using on it, did they perhaps do something to this device when it came back to the factory for refurbishment that would make it incompatible with Brainslayer's potential port? For 28 USD I will risk it. The coax port has me extremely interested as well.
Edit: I understand BS already has one of these. If BS needs this router, I will buy two and ship one to him. _________________ Linksys WRT300Nv1 with DD-WRT v24 RC5 VPN Generic
