OpenDNS recently dropped usernames and now is using email addresses only. I'm wondering INADYN doesn't allow special characters in the username either. If this is the case, then DNSoMatic isn't going to work with INADYN, because of the "@" in the email address.

I have setup a family member's DD-WRT router with DDNS enabled using DNS-O-Matic and an email address for login with no problems updating. The DD-WRT router is using build 14473 with the following DDNS settings:

Do not use external ip check = YES
You would not see a problem unless this option is turned off. It seems that there are quite a few people that see a "failed" IP address check. Because an IP address is not returned, then it fails to update. _________________ E3000 22200M KongVPN K26

Given that I'm rather niave on this topic I need to ask;
If an external IP Check is not performed how does DDNS know what information (External IP Address) to pass to the service provider?
BTW: I have this option set and don't have a problem with updates.
I am not certain to which 'internal' interface that DD-WRT ties this to, but I do know it essentially looks at the WAN address to get its "external" IP check. If the WAN is private IP address (as determined by Internet standards), then the IP update would fail as public DNS cannot route to private IPs.
If the external IP check is not performed, the IP it determines as the WAN address will be passed to the dynamic DNS provider. _________________ E3000 22200M KongVPN K26

here's my help...this might save somebody a few hours one day...like it cost me, everything i tried, it would just say connecting to server. i finally tried changing my network name for opendns, it was two words, numbers and letters, an address actually. as soon as i took off the street name, it worked.
so for whatever reason, using the -a between hostnames works, but i would stick to one set of characters (no spaces)
thanks to all the posters!
tried all the settings listed in this topc and no joy, can anyone suggest anything??
Yes, that you state what router and build version number you have when asking for help.. _________________ Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
