So you see it’s interesting to see how the scene is changing, no longer is it “ahh thankyou for giving me that release”, it is more like “You haven’t cracked it within 35 seconds, you suck! I hate you!!”, of course this is a obvious re-enactment because I used correct grammar. Cool

I think this is a development site/open source. therefore it is not a 'release/download' site, for that we go to sevasoft (pay/commercial software). (sevasoft really has a working 1.1 software but its tied to a certain MAC address)

So if you got a v1.1, your options are

1) refund your unit completely
2) exchange for a 1.0 or 2.0 unit or other
3) wait (open sourced software usually took many years to blast off to mainstream)
4) help out somehow ?

Hi, I am joining the club of dd-wrt users that would like to use it on a WRT-300N V 1.1. I also want to mention I am willing to help with this project.

I have 2 wrt300n v 1.1 . One is bricked the second is still in the box.

I can't tftp my bricked unit and tried all the usuall stuff with the reset pin.

I then considered JTAG:

wrt54g -probeonly with HairyDairy maid v 4.8 utility :

CPU Chip ID: 00010100001100100001000101111111 (1432117F)
*** Unknown or NO CPU Chip ID Detected ***

I am used to see this work with wrt54g but this time it seems the wrt300n is not yet recognized by this utility.

Now my questions :

In the earlier posts I see that several builds provided by dev team were tried by a tester, were they all reflashed by tftp ?

Now about the console output, are the pads for JP3 some serial ports ?

I would be greatly interested to know what steps I need to take in order to be able to reflash this device via JTAG.

I will continue my search concerning having JTAG support and let you know.

Any suggestions for my next steps ?

First, get tjtag and run the -probeonly utility on it, this is the utility that Im working on, what does the processor say on it ? I think it's also possible your using the wrong 12 for jtag ?

Hi, thanks for the answer.

I installed tjtag see the output below. Result is very similar.

For the processor: BCM4705LKFBG
Switch is : BCM5325EKQMG
Brand of flash is Samsung.

For the JTAG I tried to use my same setup that worked with WRT54G. On the board there is JP1 and JP3. jp1 is twelve also but smaller footprint, smaller than pinhead. So I am trying on the JP3.

Is it that this chip id is not added yet in this application ? This normally gives FFFFF when it's not working. You think I am hooked to the serial port ?

Let me know

Thanks

Charlo

Looks like you're jtaging radio chip (BCM4321). Try another connector (small footprint)

Ok so it would be the radio software by JP3 port ? Is what this chip id means ?

I don't have small enough pin headers to put there.

So tomorrow I will solder some wires in the 2x6 holes, I will figure some kind of connections with what I have. Should I simulate the wrt45g pinout as I was doing ?

Thanks

ok, you need only 5 wires (4 signal and 1 GND) - make sort of short extension to normal pin header.

I would use the same pinout, it doesn't make sense that they would use two different pinouts on the same board for jtag, or maybe there is a good reason ? You will have to be the tester for us. But Eko has verified this, you are jtaging the radio.

What does one do with jtaging the radio ? Debugging only?

thanks

Ok well I gave a shot to JP1,

It didnt work as good as I would liked. I connected some wires to JP1 (it is very small). First time it wasn't working at all. I unsoldered everything and redid it better Wink

Now I randomly get :

CPU Chip ID: 10000000000000000000000000000000 (80000000)
*** Unknown or NO CPU Chip ID Detected ***

OR

CPU Chip ID: 00000000000000000000000000000000 (00000000)
*** Unknown or NO CPU Chip ID Detected ***

This is not the usuall FF when we detect nothing so there must be some live on these pins.

The router still continues to endlessly reboot (it looks like that) so I figure my soldering didn't broke it too much.

I would really like to find some parts that will permit me to install a real connector on this 2 x 6 small footprint.

I am using the cheap cable solution with 100ohms resistors. With the extra cable I added because I cannot solder pinhead, the cable lenght is more than 6 inches.. can it be a real issue ?

I begin to think the port we're looking at isn't JTAG, but I will try a last time to make a cleaner connection.

Do you have some pointers on what levels I should expect on what pins ? I only have a multimeter for now but should have a scop at home in the next weeks.

Regards

Charles
