A workmate recently attended linuxconf.au and got the chance to checkout the 'meshpotato' project. See here: http://www.villagetelco.org/
It seems to me that if there are linux drivers for any USB FXS adapters - see 'FXS to USB' section here http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Analog+Telephone+Adapters - that there's the potential to achieve the same sort of functionality with dd-wrt.
I quite like the idea of putting a cheap router somewhere, plugging a usb to fxs adapter into it and then an analog telphone into that. I suppose it will depend on if the USB FXS adapters can be gotten at a cheaper price than say a linsys SPA3102 ATA.
Has anyone looked into this possibility previously? Obviously dd-wrt would need to run some softphone software. Perhaps a router with at least 8MB ram might be a minimum requirement?
There's been a few posts regarding running asterix on dd-wrt. It seems somewhat of a logical extenstion to also provide some ata functionality?
Alternatively, are any USB VOIP phones supported that may be able to plug into the router directly. Even if not now how about under k26?
