I have several and would be happy to donate one if that meant getting support into dd-wrt. I am in the US though and wonder if shipping cost is prohibitive vs sourcing one from somewhere in europe...

It shouldn't be too expensive to ship, $20 or less. Just might take a few weeks to get there.

From the USPS.com site...

Priority Mail® International Small Flat-Rate Box 6 - 10 Days $12.95 $12.30

$12.95 is if you do it at the post office, $12.30 is if you print online.

since we havnt one ...there wont be support.

what we've done a few times is. that one of u guys that can get one of these will collect money for the router and shipping and send it to us.

if u dont trust strangers i can collect the money but we have to find a user who gets us a unit

Ok now ive looked at the 2 boards more closely they are FREAKISHLY similar. only difference i can really see is the ram is a different version but same size and the wisoc chip is a ar2317 instead of a ar2318. If the flash is the same size as the wgt624 v4 and if the 18 and 17 both work the same. I see no reason why they shouldn't work with the current wgt624 v4 test firmware (im no expert so wait for an expert to say it will work before you do something dumb).

Tho i think i can see a serial and a jtag are if one of you people were game to have a bash at wiring one up.

Hi, smileboot.
I'm sure this is WGR614 v7. And WGT624 v4 is following the same(or almost same) chip family (http://www.atheros.com/pt/AR5007AP-G.htm).
But I also checked the netgear's GPL release site(ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/GPL/), and WGR614 v7 is missing. So I guess that WGR614 v7 is not running the redboot as the bootloader. Maybe we need to kill the vxwork first?

All i can say is try getting to redboot(follow the instructions for dir300 using 192.168.1.55 for the pc and 192.168.1.1 for the router) cause its not like they advertise the fact it uses redboot on the box. And if it is using vxworks when we get the source for the redboot on the wgt624 maybe we can swap it out with that. /me shrugs

Cause most companys wont post source untill their asked... maybe no ones ever asked /me shrugs again

Are you really sure?

My WGR614v7 has:

Chip: AR2317 Single-Chip 2.4 GHz Access Point Solution
RAM: 8MB (IC42S16400 4Mx16 = 64 Mbit SDRAM)
Flash: 2MB (Serial Flash 16Mb MX25L1605A 3V)

And therefore it is less or no hope to get DD-WRT working on it in a reliable manner.

Best regards.

I had one and was willing to part with it, but having seen others offered in the thread and no takers, I figured that this would never get off the ground. I have sense given mine away and no longer have access to it.

New to the forums and flashing routers too. Stumbled upon this forum in search for firmware. I just bought the same router (WGR614 V7) for $10 (with promo code) @ newegg. If someone has $10 to spare then this is the perfect chance...

I have one of these routers I'd be willing to donate if there's still a need. Just let me know where to send it.
