Does the graph work from a remote router, or must you be attached to a LAN port of the router? I tried a remote whr-g54s router and I can't get it to graph anything. I tried the OID parameters 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 and none seem to work. Pls advise.

Is there anyway to get SNMP to work on this device? If so how do I set the community string?

Hi

I'm trying to measure the data usage on my device.

However, if it goes over 4GB it goes back to 0 obviously.

I checked using snmpwalk, and it doesn't seem that there is any 64 bits counters for any of the interface ...
Any ideas why?
Looking at some of the MIB in the svn repository, it seems that there are some 64 bits counter.

BTW, for people wondering what OID is for each interface , run the following command:
snmpwalk -v2c -c public ip_address_wrt54 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1

You'll see something like:
IF-MIB::ifDescr.1 = STRING: lo
IF-MIB::ifDescr.2 = STRING: teql0
IF-MIB::ifDescr.3 = STRING: eth0
IF-MIB::ifDescr.4 = STRING: eth1
IF-MIB::ifDescr.5 = STRING: vlan0
IF-MIB::ifDescr.6 = STRING: vlan1
IF-MIB::ifDescr.7 = STRING: br0
IF-MIB::ifDescr.8 = STRING: imq0
IF-MIB::ifDescr.9 = STRING: imq1
IF-MIB::ifDescr.10 = STRING: ppp0

so if you want the ppp0 interface (if using PPPoE interface)
use the following OID:
snmpget -v2c -c public 192.168.10.1 IF-MIB::ifInOctets.10
or
snmpget -v2c -c public 192.168.10.1 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.10

replace the last number (here 10) with the interface you want:
on my router 3 for eth0
4 for eth1 etc...

PRTG is a windows based app which allows monitoring of three free nodes. If you want more you have to pay per node.
Very easy setup and configuration for SNMP monitoring. Provides webpage for viewing traffic.

Thanks for the tutorial; STG is really more convenient than MRTG!

I could use some help though. I've managed to get STG working to view incoming upstream/downstream traffic. Since there are only two colors to work with, however, I was wondering if it's possible to get each of them to display downstream traffic for particular computers on the network.

I share my connection with a few other guys and need to figure out who's guzzling the most bandwidth.

i've downloaded Getif, but have only been able to find the OIDs for overall WLAN traffic and stuff.

I don't know what you did, but I've had MRTG installed and running off the router before upgrading to v24 and it's still working after the upgrade via the same config file.

So... bad luck for you?

Well to be honest... the interfaces aren't always registered in the same order. So if you watch ifInOctets.7 for instance, one time it might be vlan1, another time it could be tap0 and another time it might be ppp0 (basically the order doesn't persist across reboots). Also if you add virtual SSIDs or vlans, you're going to get that order scrambled again.

The only reliable way to track them is via name. That is get all ifDescr and figure out what instance is the appropriate one for vlan1 (defualt vlan for WAN) or whatever interface you wish to monitor.

But yes, I would love it if the instances would stay the same. I.e.

Interface Name -> MIB instance

br0 - br 99 -> 100 - 199
br0.1 - br99.99 -> 10001 - 19999
eth 0 - eth 99 -> 200 - 299
ppp 0 - ppp 99 -> 300 - 399
tap 0 - tap 99 -> 400 - 499

...and so on. Shouldn't be too hard to make them persist like that, no?

Only the upload speed stopped working for me when I started using v24.
Anyway, I used snmpwalk, as mentioned in the Simple Network Management Protocol wiki

Now I'm using this for the upload speed:
Quote:
1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.16.10

and this for the download speed:
Quote:
1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.10

They seem to be the correct values, but I'm not 100% sure yet.
