After playing with the latest test build v24-21676_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-nv60k and experiencing dropping wifi and very slow internet speeds, I tried to downgrade to dd-wrt.v24-23204_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-e3000 to start before upgrading to build 23204.
It semi-bricked because I can ping it only after powering up but then times out.

I tried using tftp2 and successfully flashed an older mini build 3.9mb to where I can now ping it but not login. So I tried flashing a larger newer dd-wrt.v24-23204_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv60k.bin but I get "Erasing flash please wait..." until it tries 50 times. I can go back and flash the first smaller file, but same issue.(not accessible through web interface and power light still blinking.

So after reading more I see that many are saying the initial file MUST be smaller than 3MB, but most files for this model are over 3MB.
Can I use a generic mini build file for a standard Broadcom router like /eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2012/07-20-12-r19519/broadcom/dd-wrt.v24_mini_generic.bin since this file is smaller than 3MB, 2.9MB.

I have done hard resets in between flashes with no joy.

Anyone have any suggestions, or maybe I missed a sticky, please, or am I screwed?

Thank you for any help!

I only loaded it after reading someone else suggest it on this board.
But then I read the post you linked after I already loaded it. Oh well live and learn.

But from what I've read, if the router responds to ping requests, it's not entirely bricked and can possibly be recovered via tftp, tftp2, or some other recovery method before having to use a serial connector or jtag.
Am I wrong in this?

Thanks
