Help!!!

Router power light was flashing, all LEDs on.

1. have tried debricking using Jtag
2. flashed a v5 CFE and now only power light blinks and all other leds are off.
3. got LAN connection on XP showing connected at 100 Mbps but cannot ping router
4. Static ip set to 192.168.1.2, 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.1 still cannot ping
5. flashed kernel (with linksys firmware) still no joy after reboot, no ping either.
6. erased nvram and rebooted, no luck.

Can anyone help guide me through the debrick. I have no CFE or kernel or wholeflash backups or originals.

Thanks Tornado.

OK I got ping with your CFE.

This will sound dumb but I just looked at the label on my WRT54G and it says version 5.

For some reason I was thinking it is v6 the serial is CFDBXXXXXXXX

Tried to tftp the linksys firmware, it loads and says firmware upgraded but the router does not reboot. Waited a couple minutes and rebooted the router by power cycle (also tried with hard reset) but power light still blinking. I still have ping though.

Is there a specific process I should follow, maybe I am missing something.

Let me make a different CFE, they are different for the Gv5 and Gv6.

Yes I flashed micro build before I was reverting because the router would hang after 8 to 10 hours.

edit: actually I bricked it because I rebooted before the running the .flash.sh command after embedding he mac and serial

I am in the same situation - "bricked" when trying to revert back to vx firmware. I changed the MAC address and ran the flash script without any problem, but I still couldn't connect through the web interface, so I tried pinging and that no longer worked either. I tried power cycle, but now the power light is blinking and all the switch lights are on. How did you get yours back from this state? I cannot even ping it anymore.
Mine is a v6.

Thanks T

GOt your pm in the morning but had no time. Just got back from work and flashed the new CFE after erasing wholeflash (a couple times just to be sure)

Rebooted the router after flash

1. got ping
2. tftped the linksys frmware andwas able to tftp without password
3. router did not reboot after tftp
4. waited 5 mintes and then power cycled
5. after reboot still got ping
6. power light still flashing
7. tried to go to the webpage 192.168.1.1 but no luck

I hope my sequence for flashing , tftp and tftp file is correct .

Any more ideas?

I notice the tftp upgrade goes by very fast (complete in 3 seconds) and on the network status window i receive back as many packets as i sent to the router. Is this normal?

I have not been able to get myself to throw away the router.

I has lost all communication through the JTAG interface, so I thought it was all over. But seems like I had done a bad job at soldering the header & two pins came loose.
I fixed those and now I can communicate again.

So I am flashing the CFE as I write this. Lets hope it works.

Start over, erase the flash. flash the cfe I gave you, then tftp DD-WRT firmware ONLY, no linksys. After tftp'ing the firmware give it a min, to do what it has to do.

Also, there is a CFE.BIN file in the Download section , under others-->wrt54gv5 flashing...this is the cfe that is put on with the original killer, but I think the IP is different 1.10 or something like that.

It's a wonder what a little patience can do.

Thanks Tornado

All lights were on except DMZ and Wireless, power light was flashing.

1. COnnect Jtag and start up the jtag utility.
2. Erased whole flash
3. Flashed CFE with the CFE you gave me via pm
4. Waited 5 minutes
5. Power cycle. Al lights went off except the power light that was flashing.
6. connected lan cable with static IP 192.168.1.2
7. tftp dd-wrt micro generic
8. waited about 2 to 3 minutes
9. power light stopped flashing and became solid and wireless light came on.
10. Started web browser and went to 192.168.1.1
11. got DD-wrtinfo screen.

Hooray for Tornado.....

I have been folling around with router for about a month now.
Thanks to Tornado's help got it debricked.
