WRT54G v8.2 and DD-WRT

hello, I noticed there is a more recent DD-WRT version here: ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2014/02-19-2014-r23598/broadcom/ than the one posted in the main website.

is safe to install this DD-WRT version ?

define "safe" Im pretty sure you will find an answer in the peacock thread.

dont risk it unless you know the odds very well. read the peacock thread before you do anything else.

with "safe" I mean it will not brick my router ? or contain errors that could make my router not work properly ?

the last version from linksys, but is from 2009 and there is no more updates, so i'm thinking on jump to DD-WRT.

I dont know about the v8.2, except there are extra hoops to jump through (VX killer or something)

I know how to flash don't worry about that.

I'm just asking about if that more recent firmware DD-WRT version is safe to use.

You have specified a folder, not a build. Not all builds in thAt folder are safe to flash. And not following the wiki for initial flashing is dangerous.

I'm asking about the "micro_generic" version only which is the only version compatible with this device, and that is the same that is posted here: ftp://dd-wrt.com/betas/2014/02-19-2014-r23598/broadcom/

is safe ?

I flashed the mega version of that build on my v4 the day it came out just to see if there was any obvious changes and it didnt brick it.

if it was mine and for daily use, I would run 14929 for stability.

unless you have/know a specific reason to run something later than 14929, you shouldnt (IMO)

the latest builds are "experimental" and always a risk.
