After bricking my old router I had a new one overnighted to me, but according to the wiki v9 is unsupported because it is only sold in China with a 2MB flash.
Except 1) I bought it in the US and 2) it has a 4MB flash.
The flash is Spansion FL032PIF, RAM is 32MB Winbond W9425G6JH-5, the cpu is labeled QCA9533-AL3A (maybe I'm in the wrong forum?) Has there been any development on this, and if not what can I do?

I also bought a TL-WR841N v9.0 and want to flash dd-wrt on it.
I also read that this device version should be a china version with just 2MB Flash. But I don't believe this information too, as TP-Link is offering a 3.9MB firmware for this device on it's website. I tried to flash this firmware and it worked.
I tried to flash the dd-wrt firmware for v8.x (factory-to-ddwrt.bin r23720), but it didn't work.
Following error:
Error code: 18005
Upgrade unsuccessfully because the version of the upgraded file was incorrect. Please check the file name.
Renaming the file to the name of the original TP-Link Firmware didn't solve the problem.
I didn't try the file tl-wr841nd-webflash.bin, but as far as I understand it, this file is not suitable for the first installation of dd-wrt.
Has anybody an idea on how to solve this problem or is there any work on supporting this device?
Good news is that it is not a Chinese version (there is one, but TP-Link recently released v9 in the states).
I submitted a ticket to get support added, but it will probably take a while for the DD-WRT team to get to it. We can hope that they get a hardware donation soon, since it's so inexpensive, and hop on it relatively soon.
Just got an WR841N, didn't think I would get a V9 and be unable to install DD-WRT :/
Tried OpenWRT, here are the major issues I've faced so far :
- I can't disable VLANs on switch ports, as a consequence I can't make it run as a simple L2 switch. Tried to disable VLANs through Web Interface, through /etc/config/network, without luck.
- I'm unable to setup Wireless Client Bridge mode, I can connect as a client to the primary SSID but as soon as I set my second SSID I lose all connections. If I disable the Client Connection, I then get my Master SSID running, but obviously no connection with my primary AP :-/
Hopefully a DD-WRT build will be released soon ?

Just install, then install luci via telnet. Pretty straightforward.
If you understand and like CLI yes, and don't forget to do so on same day, if you flash today and install LuCi (web-ui) tomorrow it might not download, cause of the daily changes OpenWrt makes.
