Is there a place where I can track the development for this particular router to know when it's stable?

This Tópic has 7 pages, and is about your model and version, and track latest build once release

Also waiting for a stable release.
I have loaded the build from 6/23/2014 and I am not able to ping any connected devices.
Which is possible with the original firmware.

Ps besides of these small issues it's a really great piece of software!!!

I have too a v9. As some others I could only flash the factory to ddwrt. But this gave me already a working router, everything seemed to work fine but still I would like to have the official ddwrt on it.

I used the unbrick which works great (thanks!)

After this I used the r24160 build for factory to ddwrt. After that I could apply the r24461 build. All seems to be working fine now.

I used "how_to_unbrick_tl_wr841n_v9.0.rar" - so the stripped firmware. Within 5 minutes back to original.

<cut> see remark below

//Update: the wifi problems as described were caused by the laptop I used to test....not by the WR841

So deleted my message

How did you revert from openwrt ?
Which is more stable ddwrt or openwrt and less buggy ?
Does the router become hotter with ddwrt, openwrt ?

That can be following the same guide as reverting back from DD-WRT. Or u can also do webflash of the revert image. You can find all the info here:

OpenWRT looked slightly better on WIFI stability and performance, but my knowledge isnt so deep so I couldnt really test all. I did test too short to check heat.

I've returned the WR841 units and now using WR4300.

All,

Just flashed my brand new tl-wr841n (not nd) v9 with factory-to-ddwrt.bin and that took just fine, but when I tried to upgrade to tl-wr841nd-webflash.bin it wouldn't take. I get an "Upgrade Failed" after I hit the 290s mark. I used the 06-23-2014-r24461 build. Any ideas on why this didn't work, and on how to get it working?

Was going to try and at least get the stripped factory firmware, per MazdagL's instructions, but can't seem to obtain the firmware from the link he posted.

At the moment I'm stuck with a tl-wr841n with factory-to-ddwrt on it -- help!

I too can confirm this. Trying to flash an older version now.

In r24461 there is a bug and you can't downgrade firmware. If you want to flash something else find my archive and use recovery mode with stripped firmware which is tp-link official.

People, if you want to do as MazdagL just download the archive and follow the steps. It's the same procedure as MazdagL did and with the same firmware file.

You did not quite understand me, I reverted to stock and then went to an older version which works great Very Happy

Just as FYI, the wifi issues I had were caused by my laptop not by the WR841. The wifi of my Sony Viao is dramatic, but I never realised since I use it only at 5Ghz.

So retested all, wifi seems stable though the original firmware supports 300Mb which I couldnt get to work with DDWRT or openWRT
