Hello man, I have 2 WR841N's and one is v9. I am using the latest version from the ftp (05.03) and WiFi is working very well. QoS also works, I just got it to work and not sure how well, but DEFINITELY better than the stock. The stock was a nightmare, pretty much useless for me. I do not use the pppoe however and I don't know about that.
However, if you want to use QoS you have to use the TP-Link's WAN port, it doesn't work over LAN/WLAN (at least I couldn't get it to work)

the wifi runs at 300Mbps or only at 150Mbps?
Both stock and dd wrt can achieve 300Mbps, but you'll have to use 40MHz for that

since I finally have the TP-Link wr841n setup working perfectily (2 of them as WDS) with QoS, I now discovered that I could get IPTV also.
However, my question is that is it possible to get IPTV and WiFi bridge working simultaneously?
So the first TP-Link would get IPTV and Internet from my main router and passes the streams to the other TP-Link parellel? SO they won't disturb each other?
Is this possible or is it a too ambitious project?
I realize that this will probably cut the bandwidth to half again (WDS cuts it to half and if I need 2 separate streams, this would cut the speed by another half to 1/4). However, I don't think this would be a problem since my Internet is only 16/1Mbit anyway

Hi.
I have a TP-Link TL-WR841ND v9 that I just installed the factory-to-ddwrt.bin firmware on. Everything installed ok and I'm able to connect to my router. I want to set this up to repeat the signal of my current router. I'm not super tech savvy so don't really know how to do that.
Any help / guidance on what the steps are to do that would be much appreciated.
Just found out about this router on Amazon, which may suit my need for connecting the far side of my residence to the other side that already has a router (one long ethernet cable is the connection) so I can give my side both wired and wireless access to multiple devices via this router chain. I haven't bought one yet because I'd like to know if there's anything I need to know to setting up DD-WRT on it, as well as if this router really is what I would need. From what is understood on this thread, Amazon is shipping out v9.2 when v9.0 (or v9.1?) seems to be the last known working version.
If this is what would suit my needs, what all will I need for installing DD-WRT on it? I will be quite frank, I don't know much about DD-WRT, only that it was suggested by a person on another forum about my situation (and from what little I know, it's a custom firmware meant as an improvement over the stock). He didn't reference this particular router though. I searched for that myself.
I'm hoping to get myself settled with what I need before Saturday (I'll have friends over for a little LANing), and I have a few hours before Amazon cuts off the guarantee Friday delivery with 2-day shipping.

Go to http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr841nd
scroll down to v9 (without serial) and follow those instructions. If you don't know what a TFTP server is, as I didn't, just google it. It's pretty simple. I hadn't heard of it until I bricked my WR841v9 and was able to unbrick it in less than 30 minutes.
