But I am not able to go beyond 21 dBm transmitter strength on 11N HT20, channel 6 no matter what ranges I give.
As per MPE test posted on FCC this router can go with peak output power of 29.51 dBm with 5 dBi antenna gain on the same channel(See attchd). Any clues on how to reach these ?

It's probably a limitation by the eeprom, nothing you can do.
Have you set the Regulatory Domain to Canada or United States ? Those allow for the highest TX Power. _________________ THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE; ONLY FRIENDS YOU HAVEN'T YET MET.

Yes Sir, I did...rest of the domain countries max out at 19 dBm.
I've been trying to access ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/ all day without success. Connection times out, both on Chrome and Firefox. I think server must be down.

I am also trying to get the dd-wrt tl-wr841n v9 files, is there anywhere else we can get them from? Or do I just have to keeping checking if the site is back up?
Thanks
I flashed my TL-WR841N V9 router yesterday, it was working with DD-WRT. I have then tried to flash it back to factory settings and something went wrong. I can still connect to the internet with it but i can no longer access the web interface.
Just wondering if anyone knows how I can flash it back to factory settings so i can try again without the web interface access or if it is completely screwed.
1. get a tftp server.
2. set your ip to 192.168.0.66 (with ethernet cable ofcourse)
3. make an empty folder (whereever)
4. put your bin file in said folder
5. Rename said bin file to "wr841nv9_tp_recovery.bin"
6. get the tftp server ready for requests
7. turn off the router
8. Hold reset and turn it back on, whilst keeping the reset button pressed for 3-4 seconds
9. Voila, it should have uploaded the new firmware.
Fyi, the router has the ip of 192.168.0.86 and only checks on 192.168.0.66 for the file.

anyone have a "stable" beta version link for a v.9 WR841?
I use 06-27-2015-r27456. up and running stable and fast here on WR841Nd v9.2 since 22 days. contains the latest updates for ath9k. I did not try latest r27506, this may also be good.

When installing DD-WRT can the router be connected to the modem or should it only be connected via the yellow 1st Ethernet port in the router to my PC?

there are some hints on the net, how to flash "the right way"
via ethernet-cable and web-gui (firefox is recommended) is ok, disconnecting the blue WAN-port is not necessary, as far as I know.
honestly said, I do not flash "the right way", just do it via WLAN and web-gui with chromium, no reset. This is not recommended. I do not disconnect the blue WAN-port which is connected to a bridged dsl-modem in my case (PPPoE-mode on the router).
I only flash, if the changelog offers reasonable usefull changes. I will use r27456 for a longer time now, because it really runs fine compared to former versions. Flashing is always risky, something may go wrong and brick the router. This happened to me once last year after flashing successfully several times.
