Quick version would be to check the info printed on the bottom of the router. It should have an FCC ID stamped on it (along with a version number) which should be:

TE7WR841NXV**

where ** is the actual hardware version number. so if its TE7WR841NXV9 then you have a 9.x router and if its TE7WR841NXV11 then you have an 11.x router.

Still there is always a chance of a mislabel but that would be your best bet for some sort of confirmation one way or another.

Hi Everyone,
Last night I was able to install the firmware on my D-Link TL-WR841ND V.9, using DD-WRT v3.0-r30385 (08/12/16).
I followed mostly a video found in you tube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHNlTb5o82s#t=2.11302), however I included the procedure for hard reset and waiting times given on the Peacock Thread (https://secure.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=51486).
I could have used the lastest Beta files but decided to be conservative and used a few revisions back.

The process was flawless, no Issues whatsoever, I'm using Mac OS and did the process using firefox, I didn't have to remove any security or change any configurations on my laptop.

I have NBN with Telstra (Australia fiber optic), the router detected the connection after 30 seconds of login into the router interface, no need of user and password.

The wireless LED was off all the time during installation, it only came on once the laptop was hooked up to the WiFi and still does the same, this morning was off and as soon as I fired up the laptop it came on.

Overall it feels more snappy even though I haven configured the DNS. Probably due to the fact that I can now use only 802.11n, wide HT40 for my connection.

I'll be installing a VPN soon and I'll comment on the performance. Thank you all on the forum for your valuable input.

First post and want to say thank you to the builders of this, its highly improved over the stock 'I guess you could call it firmware'.

I was having major issues with wifi dropping, had to reset at least once a day. Just found this newer build '05-09-2015-r26866' was previously using the '12-22-2014-r25697' build. I'll be back if it drops anymore hopefully this fixes it.

Again thank you for producing this build great work and keep it up please!!!

and thank you to post above this one that is where i found the 2015 build

Guys I'd like to flash this router as a temporary replacement for my current router configured to use 3 VLANs traffic.

Currently our router is connected to the VLANs through one trunk cable.

Goals:
- Allow routing from 3 VLANS to WAN.

Can the good old TL-WR841N v9 coupled with DD-WRT achieve this? In a word, does TL-WR841N + DD-WRT support VLANs?

Does DD-WRT for the TL-WR841N v9 allow changing the WAN to a LAN port? I want to use my router as an AP/switch and could use the extra port.

Yes, if you are using it as an AP/switch you shoud already have set the WAN connection type to "disabled" on the basic setup screen. After you do there should be an option for "assign WAN to switch" Select that and voila you have a 5 port switch with a wireless AP.

I have 3 ver.9s still on r31690. Normally I would have upgraded by now but this build has been flawless for me. Probably something newer would work as well, just not 32170

Thank you a lot! I had a lot of problems with WiFi on this router and this version is the first stable FW I have seen.

Hi, I upgraded to latest build and I'm facing weird problems with wifi, at least once a day my wifi devices loose their internet access even if they're still connected and have strong signal... After disabling wifi on device and reenabling it I can't connect back and I have to reboot router to make everything work again.
Anyone facing similiar problem?

edit: ok so I'm now on r33006, seems like good stable build, wifi problems disappeared

DD-WRT v3.0-r33257 (08/29/17) confirmed working. My wifi is fast and stable! I left as many defaults as possible as-is, barely changing anything unless I absolutely had to like adding a wifi password and changing the SSID. I had a WAN DHCP issue which was fixed by rebooting my modem. I thought it was caused by dd-wrt but it was not! Just a heads up in case someone has a similar issue.

Question: What version(s) DD-WRT works long term stable on WR841n-v9 for router, without having to reboot daily or weekly?
