Is there any way to set Channel width to 5MHZ? I only see options for 20 and 40 MHz.

I only know of that feature existing on R7800, R7500v2, EA8500 or R9000.

Qualcomm/Atheros-only feature that I am aware of. Possibly Marvell and Ralink/MediaTek, but definitely a no on Broadcom.

5Mhz channel width?

Are we mixing terms here, or are you really trying to constrain wireless bandwidth that much?

On the R7000, you'll have the following options...

2.4Ghz band
20 or 40Mhz channel width

5GHz band
20, 40, or 80Mhz channel width

Ath10k half (10) & quarter (5) Mhz widths are for distance, point-to-point, line of sight + 3 dB per half step down.

Thanks @blkt, I'm just trying to ensure the OP is really asking for that, rather than inadvertently mixing terminology.

Yes trying to constrain channel to 5MHz.

You won't do it on an R7000, I don't think that will get ported over to Broadcom. I don't think the drivers support it and all we would need is yet another thing to break Broadcom images, lol. Unless there is some magic command-line voodoo I am not aware of.

The actual task is trying to prove a WiFi channel is encrypted. Initial attempt was to use Kali and AirMon but could not see the signal at all. The Manufacturer of the hardware has told us that the equipment is running on a 1/4 channel (5MHz) so I was thinking that the newer cards were just ignoring that signal because its configuration was not a normal WiFi channel configuration.

That is what lead me to the original question about setting the 7000 to operate in a 1/4 channel so I could switch back and forth just to test my theory.

Do any of you know of a WiFi card that can be set to look for a signal on a 1/4 channel?

Is it available on the R7800? That was one of the things I was hoping to play with when I purchased one recently, but do not see 10 or 5 MHz as options under Channel Width.

Does the availability of this option depend on how other parameters are configured?

You need to be running a recent build on R7800 and keep default Firmware Type DD-WRT (not VANILLA).
