Hi,

Can anyone help with a TL-WR843ND. I see there is firmware for the TL-WR841ND which from what I can work out has the same Atheros AR9341 Chip. That's about as far as my knowledge goes.

I've used DD-WRT on Linksys routers before but now I'm stuck with this TP-LINK TL-WR843ND unit.

Thankyou

I just flashed to OpenWRT and installed Luci. OpenWRT is all new to me.... I think I'd prefer DD-WRT. The console I used to install Luci listed my router as a TL-WR841ND not a TL-WR843ND.

Bedtime now more playing tomorrow.

I've modified the header of the DD-WRT 27506 factory-to-ddwrt build intended for TL-WR841ND v8, so it will flash on a TL-WR843ND v1 running stock TP-Link firmware.
If the attached build works for you, it can be further updated with any newer-than-27506 webflash build for TL-WR841ND v8.

Disclaimer: I haven't tested the attached build myself, so I'm not responsible in any way if you brick your router.
Please only flash this build if you know how to unbrick it.

Note: You must be logged in to be able to download the attachment.

Anyone tried the firmware on wrt843 v1.5? Usually, are there any big differences in release number, not version? I'm thinking this.

I've modified the header of the DD-WRT 29739 factory-to-ddwrt build intended for TL-WR841ND v11, so it will flash on a TL-WR843ND v2 running stock TP-Link firmware.
If the attached build works for you, it can be further updated with any newer-than-29739 webflash build for TL-WR841ND v11.

Thank you . It accepted firmware. Only issue is it boots up then resets itself after 30s and stays in a loop .

Hi

I bricked my router with the firmware.

I don't have a serial cable.

What would the recovery file be called to recover via tftp.

Thanks

How to find out the name of the file the router is looking for...

Then, follow the steps in this video that the poster uses...

If that doesn't work, you may need to use a serial connection.

What factory firmware version did you have on the WR843Nv2 before you flashed the modified build ?

The header of the newest one 160307 is slightly different compared to the previous one 151008, both found here: http://www.tp-link.com/en/download/TL-WR843N.html#Firmware
It seems to be TP-Link's new method of "lockdown" and/or prevention of flashing back to a previous version - I've seen similar on other models.

If you now have the latest 160307 on it, try flashing 151008. If it doesn't work, TFTP 151008, it should work.
Then, from 151008 flash the modified DD-WRT build http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1036412#1036412

If it still bricks, I'll modify the WR841NDv9 build 29519 for your router.
