Looks can be deceiving, and you have to consider the source. But this is the right price point. There are no reasons a router should cost more when the Raspberry Pi is so cheap and powerful. _________________ WRT54GL v1.1 - DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/07/12) vpn-small (SVN revision 18946M NEWD Eko)

I have recently bought the Xiaomi Mi Wifi AC Router for $40 and the little device is awesome. Small yet powerfull. It outperformes the WiFi of my Ubee router easily. The only dissapointment is that it only has 100Mbit/s LAN ports but I can live with that.
Now I know there is a lot of talk on the internet about wishing this device would get DD-WRT firmware. The current firmware is ok (with the use of google translate), but there are not many settings to make.
It is said it has the MediaTek MT7620A chipset and a few buffalo routers use the same chipset.
So I was wondering, is there a version of DD-WRT in the making for this router?

dd-wrt does support this chipset already. but we still have problems with the switch chip (wan port isnt working yet). we are working on this for other products as well _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? Hello Mr.Brainslayer I would like to take this time to thank you for all the builds for my routers you have provided for my routers and that of a friend of mines internet cafe for many years
Quick question; when a firmware for this model is released on this and other routers where on your beta ftp server do you release this model and is it named under its chip set or its company name in this case xiaomi? Again thank you for everything

ASUS AC66U running DD-WRT Kong 23900 OLDD downclocked to 500 MHz as Repeater
ASUS N66U running 374.43_2 MerlinWRT with BL1.09 downclocked to 500MHz as WET for my Mainmachine

any news brainslayer? I've got two of these lovely little routers sitting at home. One for my dad and (hopefully) one for me! I've got openwrt on one of them, but I have to admit I much prefer ddwrt.
happy to test...
thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt would you be so kind as to share the site in which you purchased these routers?
