Looks can be deceiving, and you have to consider the source. But this is the right price point. There are no reasons a router should cost more when the Raspberry Pi is so cheap and powerful.

I have recently bought the Xiaomi Mi Wifi AC Router for $40 and the little device is awesome. Small yet powerfull. It outperformes the WiFi of my Ubee router easily. The only dissapointment is that it only has 100Mbit/s LAN ports but I can live with that.

Now I know there is a lot of talk on the internet about wishing this device would get DD-WRT firmware. The current firmware is ok (with the use of google translate), but there are not many settings to make.

It is said it has the MediaTek MT7620A chipset and a few buffalo routers use the same chipset.

So I was wondering, is there a version of DD-WRT in the making for this router?

Hello Mr.Brainslayer I would like to take this time to thank you for all the builds for my routers you have provided for my routers and that of a friend of mines internet cafe for many years Smile

Quick question; when a firmware for this model is released on this and other routers where on your beta ftp server do you release this model and is it named under its chip set or its company name in this case xiaomi? Again thank you for everything Smile

Hello,

Here you can find some info about the open-wrt port to xiaomi mini wifi - R1CM.

Firmware: http://downloads.openwrt.org.cn/PandoraBox/Xiaomi-Mini-R1CM/
discuss:

If these informations can help you to port DD-WRT, it will be great !

I pray for DD-WRT on it !

If it helps....

Loading PandoraBox (Chinese OpenWRT) - english version can be found here if it helps. After loading, I can turn the WAN port into a LAN port
