So I spent 9 hours trying to turn my linksys e1000 into a repeater so that I could grab my modem/router wifi with my linksys and throw the wireless signal back out to extend the wifi range. I followed several instructions and I have only minor knowledge of networking. I was able to get my main router to show the dd-wrt linksys as connected and as long as I was connected to the dd-wrt with ethernet cable then I could get online but it seemed like the wifi signal would come and go and whenever I tried to connect to it with Ubuntu, xp, and windows 8 it would just keep trying and never connect. The weird part is if I changed the host ssid from my modem/router ssid then I could connect but then obviously I couldnt connect to my main router. Feel free to ask any questions

I'm having the same problem on a E1000 v2.1, when the laptop is connected via a cable , no problem , internet access! But it's seems when i add a virtual ssid the E1000 router wifi connection is lost, and an orange light comes one on the router. Can anyone help?
