Was up to 24865 with frequent reboots, went back to 24760, same thing. Reboots sometimes once every two hours sometimes once every few minutes.

Finally went back to 24345 OLDD and stable as a rock.

Not running much special except for 2.4 and 5 bands with about a dozen mixed clients.

Now almost three days uninterrupted uptime on OLDD (as above).

Would be nice to know how/if one can get stability with the new drivers.

First off I just want to say that Kong has done an absolutely wonderful job on this firmware and I thank him for his time. I Just installed the latest 24865M build this past weekend and love it. I did notice a some random reboot when setting up a guest network but also just had a random reboot while watching a video. Went ahead and flashed the stable 24345M with the OLDD drivers tonight.

Since we are currently implementing a few more things that affect stability the wifi issue is not high prio to me. I don't recommend the latest builds anyways unless you really want to test my ipv6 changes and hw accel.

Yeah this makes sense. I really need a stable build for a daily driver right now but these additions look awesome.

I'm not sure how relevant this is going to be, but I have recently decided to dedicate another router to do the PPPoE dial up job, and changed the WAN type on my R7000 to DHCP, I seemed to be getting the longest uptime ever since I got this router and flashed DD-WRT.

Can someone with reboot issue update us whether you're using DHCP or PPPoE?

I use wan dhcp.
does not help my reboot issue on newer driver builds.
Rock solid on older wifi drivers.

I tried out the NEWD Kong firmwares on my r7000 but did get some random reboots (seemed to be midday for whatever reason).

Went back to the OLDD 24345 and so far have been stable for almost 11 days straight. Interestingly my modem (SB6141) needed bounced once during this time but it's been smooth since. As a habit when I update the firmware on the router I now bounce both the modem and router so there's no communication issues between the two for any reason.

I do have a number of devices (some Apple, some PC, Tivos, NAS, HP printer, etc), most on 2.4ghz, a couple on 5ghz.

As far as config goes, here is how I'm set up:

2.4ghz: NG-Mixed, Channel 1, 20mhz, Beamforming off

5ghz: Mixed, Channel 149, VHT (80+80mhz) / lower lower, Beamforming off

WPA2 Personal AES on both networks...

otherwise default values

Will probably stay on this version until Kong has the newest drivers (hopefully without the reboot "feature" Smile available.

Kong - thanks for the great work!!!

It seemed like I was still getting some random reboots even on the 24345M firmware. I noticed that "Frame Burst" was enabled even though the help screen showed the default as Disabled. After disabling it I haven't had a random reboot, before I couldn't get through a full day.

I haven't really kept up with this thread since my R7000 (24865M) had been nice and stable. From yesterday afternoon:
root@DD-WRT:~# uptime
12:49:51 up 14 days, 19:53, load average: 0.06, 0.15, 0.13

Of course that's when started tinkering with settings, I lost that uptime this morning. Here's the configuration I had been using without problems:
2.4ghz had 3 wifi cameras, implicit and explicit beamforming off, channel 11, auto power, WPA2 personal AES, 20mhz wide
5ghz had 2 phones, 2 tablets and and 2 computers, implicit and explicit beamforming off, channel 149, auto power, WPA2 personal AES, 80mhz wide (lower lower)

What I changed:
2.4 to channel 1, implicit and explicit beamforming on, 200mw, added a phone that had been on 5
5 to channel 36, implicit and explicit beamforming on, 200mw, removed phone and put on 2.4

Now I know that's several changes and doesn't really help troubleshooting by itself but maybe someone else had some similar changes that triggered the reboot and can help narrow down the specific configuration issue. Then again, this whole topic may be moot once those new drivers come out, fingers crossed.

Regardless, I'm going back to my previous config since that worked flawlessly for me. Just thought I'd share my experience, hope it helps.

Hello,

I've bought a R7000 to replace my old WRT-54GL (running DD-WRT). I've flashed it with Kong 25015 and configure it. All was OK, except... reboots, every about 30'-60'.

I've flashed my router with the firmware 24345, the last including the old drivers. No reboot until yesterday (16 hours now).

It looks like there is problems with new drivers, and they are not corrected in the last firmware...

Running Kong 25100M
http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt-ren/K3-AC-Arm/25100M/dd-wrt.v24-K3_AC_ARM_STD.bin

on my R7000 OC at 1200,800

Random reboots; don't know the reason behind it.
Let me know if I can post some info on my router to help discover why.

Thank you Kong for all the work you've done for us here. You're amazing!

I was under the impression that we figured out why it was rebooting and also have a workaround at the cost of 2.4Ghz performance.

nvram set wl0_ampdu=off
nvram commit
reboot

That has basically worked for almost everyone who has tried it. It will limit your 2.4Ghz antenna to 54mbps, but your 5GHz will still go full speed.

The problem has something to do with the wireless drivers, so hopefully we will have a full fix at some point in the future. Anyhow, give it a try; I'm almost positive it'll get rid of the random reboots.

No it won't.

daath is correct.
disabling WMM on 2.4 will limit the connection/throughput rate to 54mbps.

the ampdu has a different purpose.
Though the result in disabling the 2.4 ampdu for some has made the difference for stability.

For my testing, changing the setting to "off" reduced my performance (copying a 1GB file) from an average of 90mbps to about 40mbps; this is without changing anything else.

Changing it back to "auto" and rebooting, my performance went back up again. Others may have had different experiences, but that is what I experience every single time with multiple build versions.
