I initially posted in the wrong forum but here's my question:

I have an Asus RT N10 and it is supported, however the files that are associated with it are confusing to me .

I downloaded the flash based startup file but don't have a clue what else i would need to complete the conversion.

It is a RT N10 basic version and is not a plus version.

Any help would be very much appreciated

I don't know about the ones in the database. The router database should not be used. Read the announcements at the top of this forum.
The trx file is used for going from stock to dd-wrt. After that you use a bin file.
I'm not sure which build you would use after that. It would depend on wether you have a router with 60k or 64k of nvram.
You also can't use a firmware (build) bigger than 4mb.
If you don't like dd-wrt on the router, to go back to stock, simply download the asus firmware, change the trx ending to bin and use it in the upgrade tab to get back to stock.
