Is this compatible with other Ubiquiti devices? I'd like to flash a Bullet M2HP (purchased in September), and so far all builds are giving me the same error as the OP

As long as you try to flash a unit which is running airos you should not be able to break anything. If the dd-wrt image doesn’t match to the actual hardware platform the image will be rejected.

But if your unit is already running dd-wrt you’ll need to pay attention to choose to correct firmware. The easiest way to figure out if you need the new XW firmware or not is to check for the CPU.

Atheros AR7240 = usual firmware
Atheros AR934x = new _XW images
