Hi,

I bricked my WDR3600 with mtd write. Previous firmware was dd-wrt r24461.

After the flash: no wifi, Webinterface, SSH. telnet on 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.0.1. On start all LEDs (also USB LEDs) flash 1 time except the 5Ghz LED. Only the left LED keeps shining and the active ethernet LED is flashing.

Ok, now I have the Ver:1.5 and heard about the possibility to recover with a TFTP server without serial.

Everything seems working right. After bringing router in mode with holding 'WPS/reset'on start, the right arrow LED is shining. Router is sending requests from 192.168.0.86 to 192.168.0.66 for wdr3600v1_tp_recovery.bin (wireshark). I gave my PC (Windows 7) the IP 192.168.0.66, installed TFTP server and renamed and put firmware in the right folder. TFTP uploads the bin in 3 seconds, right LED stops, but after that, nothing.

TFTP software tested: TFTP Util, OpenTFTPServer, tftpd64
Images tested: stock TL-WDR3600_v1_140916, stock boot part removed, factory-to-ddwrt.bin, openwrt-factory

I would be thankful for any ideas! Would a serial adapter help? But I prefer a solution without.

I have opened the router now and the board says Rev:1.3. Does that mean TFTP wont work?

Also I've tried the reverting file from the Sticky in this board. After uploading this file the right arrow LED keeps shining for a while until all LEDs are flashing and the router seems to reboot. But also, not woring after that.

I managed to get the router working again with the serial method. the challange for TFTP only seems to find the right '.bin' but I wasn't able to find it.

Hi.

This work in 3 router for me:

1- Download original firmware TL-WDR3600

2- Removed boot with hex editor, saved and rename firmware to wdr3600v1_tp_recovery.bin

3- Download tftpd32 version 4.50 TFTPD32 (is very important! if you have a firewall software, grants all permissions to tftpd32 and especially open port 69.

4- Change your PC/Laptop ip address to 192.168.0.66, Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0

5- Connect you computer to the LAN port 1 on the router (WAN port won't work for this)

6- Open tftpd32, in TFTP Server select server interface 192.168.0.66

7- Hold down the WPS/Reset button on the router.

8- Power on the router.

9- After approximately 7 seconds release the reset button.

10- In tftpd32=>tftp server, in current directory, browse and select folder with firmware edit and rename (in step 2)

11- The router will now download the firmware from your server and upgrade. (patient and do not interrupt the process)

12- after the router reboot, in your browser go to 192.168.0.1, user and pass is admin, connect WAN port and setting, on your pc reverse and change the IP manually to obtain an ip address automatically.

sorry for my English Cool

Saluuu2! Cool

Thanks for you answer. What do you mean with remove boot? Can you describe this more please? Or can you maybe upload the working bin? I personally don't need it anymore but I'm sure it would help out many others. I've read the question for this in other forums too.

@iliteo, thanks for sharing the file; however, this recovery file gave me the same outcome as the other files I tried.

When I tftp this file to the wdr3600, the router reboot then the power and LAN1 LED come up but the computer connected to the router (after setting the computer to accept DHCP IP) failed to get a valid IP address from the router to access the Web UI so I am back to square one.

TP-Link Stock Firmware "wdr3600v1_en_3_13_31_up(130320).bin" does not contain the "boot" part (not necessary edit it), why can't you use it?

For pin head, please also see Step 2.3 on: http://dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=934517#934517
