Hi everyone, new here, great info on your forums.
I have used a lot of routers over the last decade and a half. I tend to buy the ones on sale and they seem to only last 1-3 years. I still have my first WRT54G and my father in law still uses it with DD-WRT on it. That thing is like an old tractor that refuses to quit.
I am just good enough with networking to get things done, but I must admit, it is not my specialty.

I have a rental home I use as my Home Security / Automation business showcase. I have a lot of things on the LAN there including security and automation devices and entertainment products. Because of this I do not want the guests messing with the network or the items on it.
I have some specific requests for a router and would like to put DD-WRT on it.
Is there a way to find a router that will fill the specific needs I have and able to support DD-WRT?

Here are my requirements. If you can think of a requirement I may need to be more secure, please advise.
1. Inexpensive
2. Wireless Backup to Mifi
3. firewalled, separate Wifi network for guests
4. Dual Band
5. DD-WRT compatible
6. Handles free DNS service like DYNDNS did.

Inexpensive is relative.
I plan on getting a Mifi card for internet backup purposes. Does anyone know how to get a router to switch to this Mifi when the cable internet goes down?

Thanks for the help.

I am leaning towards the Asus RT-AC66U
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008ABOJKS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Newegg has refurbed ones for sale for a third of the price. Anyone tried any of these refurb units? Are they worth the discount?
Does anyone have an opinion on this router or another that will fit my needs?
