I need some others running the TL-WR841N/ND router to confirm my ping test results on the ath0 interface between 2 wifi devices:

Ping has started…from Macbook Pro

Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
Request timeout for icmp_seq 2
64 bytes from 192.168.1.119: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=2008.609 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.119: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=1003.300 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.119: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=698.152 ms

64 bytes from 192.168.1.119: icmp_seq=6 ttl=64 time=94.400 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.119: icmp_seq=7 ttl=64 time=1007.198 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.119: icmp_seq=8 ttl=64 time=3.167 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.119: icmp_seq=9 ttl=64 time=2559.435 ms

64 bytes from 192.168.1.119: icmp_seq=13 ttl=64 time=2.012 ms

I solved the problem. First, 11/20/14 firmware improved the ping times but still slow in the 200ms range. Then I realized it was only iOS and Mac OS X that were slow. Power Saving! Aggressive Power Saving! If I started a large download on the Macbook, the ping time was then normal.
