Hi, I own a wrt610n v2 converted to e3000 with kongmod r22000++ (usb-ftp-samba3-vpn-nv60k-broadcom).

Router is setted as AP dual band. My line is a fiber 100/10 up/down.

Ookla speed test on 5 ghz says 70-90 Mbit speed; on 2.4 ghz 10-20 Mbit.

Some screenshots of wifi configuration:

As you can see on 2.4 ghz inssider shows no double channel even if channel width is set to 40 mhz. I think thats the problem but I dont understand what caused it. I did tests via an intel 7260 ac on my notebook.

Any suggestion?

thank you in advance

That seems indeed weird.

Did you do a complete throughout reset yet?

I'd suggest that as some settings might have gotten corrupted with the 2.4GHZ band especially since 5G detects both channels.

I had the problem before the upgrade from wrt610n to e3000 and I thought it was something related to the nvram.

I did reset to factory default (no 30/30/30). I tried removing wireless wpa2, changing channels but nothing.
Do you think I can force someway 40 mhz channel width via ssh?

try setting it to N-only.

[stupid idea] Might be a "g"-client is forcing it in compatibility mode [/stupid idea]

I don't have any issues with mine, but i'm not running in mixed mode.

BTW: what wireless security settings are you using? WPA2 AES i hope?

"Status -> Wireless -> WL0 "

and not

"Wireless -> WL0 Advanced"

You didn't include a Screenshot for that Screen.

Also make sure you're using WPA2 with AES like Johnny already posted and try setting it to N-Only.

Also a wrt610n v2 converted to e3000 with BS25408 K3.x mode NG-Mixed is also using only one channel.

Also the automatic chosen channels are nice "-1 + 3"

Hallo32 please open an own thread for your issue as per rules it 's not correct to hijack this one. Wink

@Bannato:

It 's displaying 13+9 correctly. Hm. Do you have another Client at hand? Preferably an old Router that could scan for it? Maybe you have only one Dual-Band Antenna + one 5G Antenna in your Laptop that 's why you're getting only one Channel?

on wireless status shows 60 Mbit rate...thats quiet low speed for a 300n.

According to this: "http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-features/31743-bye-bye-40-mhz-mode-in-24-ghz-part-1" if it doesnt meet certain requirements channel size switch to 20Mhz automatically. I think thats the problem...

Yea that 's why I asked if you had another client / card to test. To eliminate the possibility that your client is part of the reason especially since Intel WiFi-Cards are known to cause problems with many setups - they're nothing but trouble in my experience.

A good Mini-PCIe Card (at least from reading the reviews - I don't own one myself simply since I don't need it) is f. e. the Atheros Killer Wireless-N 1202 or generally any other WiFi Mini-PCIe Card not from Intel. Just don't expect any magic - but they're more stable and come with less problems then Intel Mini-PCIe Cards do since a few years for some reason or another (that I can affirm).

Now I remember ... my dad 's Intel Mini-PCIe Card (can't tell the exact model right now but it wasn't an AC-card) had nothing but troubles ever since I've replaced the N66U with an AC66U. It has been getting the same unreliable speeddrops and is also only running on 20HZ. However when connected to the R7000 it 's been working fine at 40HZ with stable rates.
