Hi All,
recently I purchased a brand new modem E3372 with LTE support. As far as I see in the list http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/3G_/_3.5G#Huawei this modem is in wip state - is any way how can I help and speed up this process?

And, by the way - you have a default ID as 12d1:1f01 mine is 12d1:14fe. However, when I connect this modem to the router (TPLINK TL-WDR3600 v1 DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/15/14) std - build 25648) it switch automatically to ID 12d1:1506 and nothing more happens... LTE stick also blink like in "modem" state, so far so good, but it is not connecting automatically and I really do not know how to try it manually and let you know the result. Nothing is written in /var/log/messages...
With an older one with exactly the same settings ans SIM card is everything working great (Huawei E1750), so I believe settings is correct.

I can provide help with testing etc. - I'm not programming for a very long time, so do not expect me any nice coding Very Happy

Thank you

Huawei dongles have different firmware versions and usb id's depending on market it is intended for.
What subversion (u-xxx or s-xxx) is printed on the label inside the dongle?

Give me the output from:
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

so that I can see what kind of interfaces/protocols an E3372 with usb id 12d1:1506 has.

12d1:1506 is an id used by many different Huawei dongles, the interface layout and functions do often differ from device to device. This is not a problem for windows since the driver specific for the dongle is submitted on the dongle and is installed from it, but it is a problem id in linux since drivers are based on the usb id.
Your dongle has the modem interface on interface #1 while most other 12d1:1506 (and Huawei in general) has the modem interface as interface #0 Crying or Very sad

E3372 is a LTE CAT4 high speed device so it has also direct ethernet interfaces allowing much higher speed than the ppp dialup modem interface. The direct ethernet interfaces are currently not supported in dd-wrt, we need to arrive at linux kernel 3.14 at least (kernel 3.18 preferred) before the drivers are stable enough to be used.

You may be able to use the E3372 in ppp dialup mode by creating a symlink via telnet cmd line after the dongle has switched mode into 12d1:1506.

ln -s /dev/ttyUSB1 /dev/usb/tts/0

Hi LOM,
thank you very much for your advice. However it probably needs more - not working with the ln -s...

What timeline do you see for kernel 3.14? As I have LTE signal here I would like to use the speed soon Smile

Hello,
no news - actually, as I needed to run it rather soon I bought a different LTE USB stick ZTE MF 823 and had to use OpenWRT... now working like a charm with a LTE speed Smile

I can test it for you, but I'm afraid it will take me at least one week to get the E3372 back home for a quick test (and then some time to flash back DD-WRT and do the test). If you like me to test it and you are patient enough to wait send me a pm or write here pls.

Yenda.

Hello,
from my side no news - arranged at least a router (TP-LINK WDR-3600) and installed the newest build available, but this is still 3.10.63

Code:

root@DD-WRT:~# uname -a
Linux DD-WRT 3.10.63 #5337 Mon Dec 22 03:48:25 CET 2014 mips GNU/Linux

Where can I get the 3.18 kernel for the test? Actually, I can test it with a ZTE MF 823 as the Huawei is no more available for me.

Regards

By the way - the ipkg package manager seems not to work - if you are able to install package kmod-usb-net-rndis_*_ar71xx.ipk with its dependencies, then the ZTE will work the same as with OpenWRT (maybe plus some other packages, I will do it later so I can tell you exactly which packages are needed).

Hi!
I'm searching a solution to the same problem - making huawei E3372 work with Buffalo WZR-HP-AG300H and I can confirm there is something not well with ipkg.

Any ideas?
