Missing shared libraries in build for TL-WR841N

I have a TP-LINK TL-WR841N

I installed tl-wr841nd-webflash.bin, from:
Downloads › others › eko › BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2 › 2014 › 12-22-2014-r25697 › tplink_tl-wr841ndv9

I attempted to start a program I have developed and it simply would not load so I looked in the /lib/ directory and there appears to be very few shared libs in this directory.

I also have a Buffalo router with the same Atheros mips chipset and the Buffalo dd-wrt release includes many more libs. When I start my program on the Buffalo router and inspect /proc/PID/maps, I see the following list of loaded libs:

/lib/libc.so.0
/lib/libpthread.so.0
/lib/libgcc_s.so.1
/lib/librt.so.0
/lib/libm.so.0
/lib/libdl.so.0
/lib/ld-uClibc.so.0

Most of these are missing in the WR841N (tl-wr841nd-webflash.bin) build. Is this by design?
