Hi all,
I've read almost all the related threads about Netgear R7800. After strictly followed the flash guidelines, I've the problem on WAN connection.
Router : Netgear R7800
Firmware : V3.0-r47040 std
1 ) after flashed, everything is ok except the " switch config " tab is missing
2 ) I tried to reboot, then the " switch config " tab is started to be seen.
3 ) At this moment, I found the following.
a. the WAN connection is ok
b. the indicator of LAN port connection is wrong. I plugged a LAN cable into the router physical LAN port 2, but the indicator ( shown in " switch config " tab ) showed I've connected to LAN port 3.
4 ) I ignored everything. Then I configured the VLAN ( under the " switch config " tab ), clicked " save " and " apply settings ".
5 ) The router was then reboot.
6 ) After reboot, no more WAN connection is found.
Am I doing something wrong?

You don't use the switch config tab to do anything on Atheros, it does not work. Reset to defaults, start over. If you need any special vlan configurations and such, use a startup script. See references sticky. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

iffin you would have got an EA8500 ports are same as logical port names on router
...just sayin
I am also confused between the two old EA8500 or used R7800?
good to specify the reason for your confusion??
if is about buying... R7800 is much better...
swconfig dev switch0 show --- will tell witch port is where...
EA8500 vs R7800 is getting tough on my nerves
I want better range on 2.4Ghz radio, it will be used as wirless client. need better throughput on 5Ghz radio, that will be acting a normal AP.
EA8500 is better priced best I got but missed was Pkr4500 online store with discount and 7 days return. USD 26
R7800 minimum price is Pkr10000 (if I buy at least 3 pieces), otherwise Pkr13000 USD 76
Physically EA8500 was in better condition.
R7800 look at the condition of it _________________ Upgraded to

does 160Mhz on R7800 with 160Mhz supported card i.e Killer 1650x improves upon EA8500 connected to same card? _________________ Upgraded to
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/25/13) std -

This is what the EA8500 5GHz wifi has
AND I know nothing 'bout "supported card i.e Killer 1650x "
that is with newest build ...umm beyond newest pub release -- it is r47497
IPQ8065 2 x 1,7ghz
2x CPU Ports
2x QCA9984 (active lifecycle)
supports 80Mhz / 80+80Mhz / 160Mhz
apart from that 80+80 and VHT160 are rubbish anyway
i have not seen any dd-wrt build where 80+80 or 160 has the same or higher throughput than VHT80 4x4
theoretically they have the same data rates
VHT80 4x4 = 1733Mbit
VHT160 2x2 = 1733Mbit
but practically I have the best throughput with VHT80 4x4 (stable ~900Mbit)
