I have a D-link dir-615C1 with dd-wrt already running on it but want to have openVPN which means I need a minimum of 8mb of flash. I opened the case and found the flash memory chip on there is made by spansion (FL032AIF), it's an SO16 (16 pin) layout. I found a spansion 32mb chip of the same (I think) specs and same pinout. I've gone ahead and ordered 3 of them in case I screw up lol. Next I need to figure out how to write the dd-wrt mega firmware (jtag cable?) on it, remove the original chip and soldered the new one on. Any tips are most welcome, this is costing me virtually no money so even if I kill the router it's not going to matter, just a fun project I'm playing with.
