I've got an atheros router that is bricked. It is a netgear r6100.
I know this is not a dd-wrt problem, so any mod is welcome to delete it or lock it. Not like you need my permission anyway, lol.

I have a serial cable hooked up, I can see the log, I can stop it but when I type tftpboot, I never get a ping response. It always says unrachable, no ttl=100, regardless of which port I use.

I can try to flash the fw through kermit, which I have done on a couple of buffalo routers but I was following a guide.
I dont know enough to attempt it on my own.
Here is the printenv log.
I am hoping someone smart can tell me what to do.
I don't know any place else to ask.
This is the guide I followed for the buffalo routers.
I don't know where the firmware is located on this netgear in order to do the copy stuff.

I stopped the boot up and typed tftpboot. It then says it is listening for the firmware upgrade but the lan ports seem unresponsive.

it may react the same way to serial as wndr4300 does try connecting a few secs after power on

Could someone tell me where I could maybe ask for help with this?
Don't say the openwrt forum as I have posted it there but no one has answered.

possibly myopenrouter..? but then again there is full of users that dont even know what "ht40" means...

do u know how it was bricked? or u just acquired it already bricked?

when holding the reset button down then turning it on, & continuing to hold it for at least 30 seconds, does anything happen? flashing power led? if so what color is it? when checking this dont do anything on serial or type tftpboot, just observe

Did you try the WAN port?
Your printenv dump says that it is the active port within u-boot.
Link LED's on the router and in the other end of the cable should tell you if the link is up..
U-boot wants the tftp server to be on 192.168.1.7 so set that ip on your computer.
U-boot might not respond to pings but in this version you have a ping cmd so ping from router to computer instead of the other way around.

help ping

if you are not sure about the cmd, otherwise I would think it is as easy as:

ping 192.168.1.7

What do I do after thsi step?

Hit any key to stop autoboot: 0
ar7240> loady
## Ready for binary (ymodem) download to 0x81000000 at 115200 bps...
CCxyzModem - CRC mode, 2(SOH)/9217(STX)/0(CAN) packets, 4 retries
## Total Size = 0x00900085 = 9437317 Bytes

When you have successfully transferred the file via x/y/z-modem to 0x81000000 then:

nand erase 0x80000 0x980000

nand write 0x81000000 0x80000 0x00900085
