Is it recommended to schroot fedora 9 to compile ddwrt

Hello to the forum. I have been reading the development instructions at http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Development.

The writer had said that he successfully compiled ddwrt on fedora 9. I am running fedora 20. Would it be recommended to create a chroot "jail" in order to properly compile ddwrt or is it strictly unnecessary?
