I have flashed this build to my TP-Link WR740Nv5, but would now like to go back to the original firmware, but everytime I try to change the firmware through DD-WRT's firmware upgrade, nothing changes. It says upgrade successful, but DD-WRT is still installed. Am I doing something wrong?

This doesn't work for version 5 from dd-wrt. It may work from gargoyle but it doesn't from dd-wrt. Don't do it. If you rewrite the mtd's 'linux' partition you'll have to tftp the recovery file, which btw is the only method right now to go back to stock from dd-wrt.

go here...https://swrt.ro/descarcare/#1443018369778-9c728ea3-a20c

search tp-link 740N ver 5.0 and copy the firmware where brown colour are...
after that install this one from ddwrt interface like new firmware update...

wait few minutes...i wait around 3-4 min...and you will have the original firmware back on router on 192.168.0.1..
good luck is so easy...btw you must use a wired connection not wireless to do that...
P.S. the latest original firmware have IPv6 support added for this type of router and really works....10/10 on IPv6 test..

Hello, I have a TP-Link WR740N v5 and would like to install DD-WRT on it. I have never installed/used DD-WRT before.

I found the latest version here:

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/12-10-2015-r28493/tplink_tl-wr740nv5/

Apparently, they are all in the betas section, so my question is:

Should I install that one, or use some of the earlier versions (that have been around longer and are known to work well)? If so, which one is the recommended?

Not sure if others will agree with me, but I've been using r27506 on my TP-Link WR740NV5 units. I have three deployed in the field as repeater bridges, i.e., "Client Bridge (Routed)". There are some hiccups but they seem as reliable as a couple of other models of routers I'm using there running OEM firmware.

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/07-09-2015-r27506/tplink_tl-wr740nv5/

Perhaps some other users will chime in. OTOH, the dd-wrt page for Repeater Bridge:

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge#Qualcomm_Atheros

says to use a build no earlier than r28493, so YMMV. HTH.

I didn't see this mentioned above but my WR740Nv5 states that is it a WR740Nv4 in the DD-WRT status page (after I had installed v5 firmware)

This issue is known and (it goes without saying) doesn't cause any problems as it's just a text label.

I'm not sure if developers are aware of it or want to bother changing the label to fix this.

Hmm

Based on the description I installed v4 firmware and have had no problems. I am just wondering if I should re-install v5 firmware or just leave it as is since it seems to work fine

So, I listened to this guy and it seems I got my router bricked. Any way to recover?
