I am using a WHR-300HP2 as a vpn client to send home with someone so they can access my network remotely. As part of this I wanted to setup the wireless capabilities but have them disabled unless the user presses the AOSS button as per the guide linked below. I have tried both the settings under services as well as a script as mentioned below that (IE a startup script disables the wireless radio interface and then /tmp/etc/config/blink.sesbutton contains the command to enable it again) but neither seem to work. I can run the script from the administrative commands tab so I know it works but it wont run when I press the AOSS button for some reason. Am I missing something to enable this feature or is there anything extra I need to do for this router. I am running DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/23/14) std - build 24461 and I do have the reset button enabled.
I was holding off on upgrading as I saw a couple people on the forums with issues using my router model and the later versions where as this build has been very stable for me so far, I have a few of these routers and have used them for various things. Is the upgrade 100% necessary to resolving this problem? Ill try it on one and see how it goes for now I guess but Id prefer to stay as stable as possible.
Ok, I have upgraded to the latest version and it does in fact solve the AOSS button issue but now I get no WAN IP and Ive tried everything I could find on the forum. Any ideas?
I've read about some Mediatek-based routers having that issue with newer builds.
If I'm remembering correctly, build 26138 should work. _________________ THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE; ONLY FRIENDS YOU HAVEN'T YET MET.

Did you check that your Host AP doesn't have it's IP the same as your DD-WRT router ?
They must have different IPs for DHCP to work properly (if both have DHCP enabled). E.g: Host AP = 192.168.1.1 and DD-WRT router = 192.168.2.1 _________________ THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE; ONLY FRIENDS YOU HAVEN'T YET MET.

Then I'm sorry, I'm kinda out of ideas. You might try an even older build, which still has the WPS/SES/AOSS button working.
If you check the changelog in my signature you'll see that the WPS/SES/AOSS button was fixed in 25974 for Ralink/Mediatek. I would say to try 25974 first, see how things work. If it works well, then go step-by-step to newer builds: 26081, 26125.
Do not forget to reset to factory defaults before and after a new build and wait at least 2 minutes when doing so. _________________ THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE; ONLY FRIENDS YOU HAVEN'T YET MET.
