Hi having tried toto on an archer c9 v3 EU model I get an upload to router but no flash.

If I try factory to ddwrt- states wrong file even though another user has successfully loaded v2 ddwrt onto v3 firmware.

The manufacturer states CE certification locks firmware, tried tftp downgrading and no joys.

Worse than this factory firmware won't allow login when wan active, trying to get ddwrt on it or it will have to go back.
Shame as it routing works well, shame you can't log in.

I'm curious as well. Mine is c9 v1 with 4.1.0 Build 20160517 Rel. 35411. What's gonna happen if I don't downgrade my v4.1.0 but install say the latest dd-wrt version? So downgrading is a requirement before installing dd-wrt?

Want to see if someone has had success installing dd-wrt from one of the latest versions?

Thanks in advance.

Hi all

I have a Archer C9 V2 running DD-WRT v3.0-r30385 std (08/12/16)

using it a second router (its connected to my main router)

its running Open VPN using Private Internet Access as my setup

My setup was working fine for around 4 months no issues but now my computers connected to it detect (no internet connection)

I tried using alternative VPN setup but after all my troubleshooting i determined the router hangs and a quick reset fixes the issue

Can anybody suggest how I can tackle this issue? What other alternatives is there other then a 30/30/30 reset.

Thank you.

Hi! Successfully installed DD-WRT on archer c9 v2 using this tutorial: https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/TP_Link_Archer_C9

I've done everything using Internet explorer according to the TP-Link advises on firmware upgrade.

I'm running DD-WRT v3.0-r30385 std (08/12/16) - has someone installed a newer version?

Regards

i have a archer c9 v1, the stock Archer C9(UN)_V1_160517 is GUI working only with android chrome but with firefox/IE/windows get unstable and can't log-in. So i downgraded to stock Archer C9_V1_150916, then upgradet to dd-wrt 12-15-2016-r30949. With dd-wrt i get still some GUI unrespodible.

I am not shure if i have a SW/HW issue.
Cann someone recommend a DD-WRT version or is dd-wrt 12-15-2016-r30949 the best for now.

Another question, is there a way to verify that the HW is working properly?

I have the latest 12/15/16 build 30949 on mine and its rock solid *touch wood*

I use USB3 sharing over FTP/Samba, I have IPv6 set up and working lovely (couldn't do that with stock) all wifi is working nicely, so all in all a decent build for the C9v2 IMO.

I've got a major issues with the DD-WRT v3.0-r30949 std (12/15/16) build.

That being that having either of the WiFi radios on - appears to cause my C9 to hang after only a few hours.
I haven't gone into this problem too deep yet (like setting up an external syslog server or monitoring a TTY console - via the serial port). But I may have to...

Anyone else seeing this issue? It may be related to using the dd-wrt 24-hour, 1 hour timers (Advanced Wireless Settings / Radio Time Restrictions) for enabling/disabling the WiFi radios??!! I guess most folks won't bother using this feature...

Still trying to troubleshoot the specific setting that triggers this issue.

So at present I can't recommend this build. Crying or Very sad

Hi,

I have tried to put DD-WRT on my V1 today and i dont think it went very good.

Followed a guide here https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/TP_Link_Archer_C9

uploaded via lan the factory to ddwrt. later did 30/30/30.
However now i have lan, wps and usb leds flash every 5-6s, and network interface goes up and down every 5-6s.

I am not sure what to do next, I think it might be in boot loop? I have tried setting up tftp on 192.168.0.66 with recovery bin as in the guide but that didnt work.

Tried doing 30/30/30 couple more times but also no go.

Any ideas? Is it cooked now?

Don't use 30/30/30 as it only applies to some old Broadcom routers, not C9.

As per the C9 wiki you mentioned, did you use tftp server on a PC with static IP 192.168.0.66? If you don't have a tftp server yet, try the PumpKIN tftp server (Do a Google search for it). Save the bin file to a directory on the PC and setup tftp server to point to that directory. Use a winXP PC if you have one.

Also, did you hold the reset button and then power up the router and release the reset button after 2-4s.

Good luck!
