Exclamation First let me say I have read the Peacock Announcement.

That being said, with all my research pre DD-WRT, I have run into an old conflicting post where someone stated OEM firmware MUST be the latest firmware before flashing DD-WRT. While I remember reading nothing about this else where, I did do an upgrade to my WRT54G2 V1 from the Broadcom page just incase, as I couldn't find firmware any where else. Both post being more than a year old, I figured I would double check.

Question Thus, my question. Is the OEM firmware on the broadcom WTR only forum, the latest? And, is it true it must be the latest OEM firmware before flashing DD-WRT? (Seems 99% of post say there is no need for OEM when flashing, unless reverting back to OEM from a bad DD-WRT flash.)If incorrect, please cut me short and reply.

Again, I am double checking as I only have one go at this and while consensus is 99>1, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Idea Goal: Flash DD-WRT to WRT54G2 V1 (firmware 1.0.04) to create a better signal by repeating it from my Comcast Arris TG862 (first floor), to the second floor of my home.

and a few trouble shooting pages including a bad flash mishap or errors;

all saved as offline favorites in preperation of my pre DD-WRT.

Thanks for your time and reading my post. Cool

Well done first post; you will avoid the wrath of many for those details. Razz

Except for very specific circumstances, it does not matter. The exception could be, e.g., for VxWorks-based firmware that tries to prevent one from wiping it out; but in that case you'd want to be sure to have -not- newer firmware. I think I have seen some wiki(s) stating to have or not have a particular version or newer than one...but in any case, the appropriate wiki would state as such.

Therefore, just follow the WRT54G2 wiki; the new part of it (but be aware of the old part, as you appear to already be). As far as repeating w/ a WRT54G*, search for mrjcd's posts.
